In the United States, we operate 39 individual school locations under three brand names: Little Sprouts (MA & NH), Building Blocks (CT), and Heartworks (VT) Early Education & Child Care Centers (referred to as Little Sprouts throughout this document). As a key member of the Education Department, the Training and Learning Manager assumes a crucial role in shaping the educational landscape within Little Sprouts. With anticipated rapid growth over the next five years, the Education Department is strategically positioned to ensure the delivery of best-in-class, age-appropriate education across the expanding US network, aligning with the pedagogical objectives set forth by our parent company, Babilou Family.

The Training and Learning Manager is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive training programs, SCORM content and engaging materials to enhance educational quality and outcomes across all Little Sprouts schools, leveraging expertise in instructional design and adult learning theory. This pivotal role fosters a culture of continuous learning and growth within the organization, ensuring that educators are equipped with the necessary tools and resources to provide high-quality care and education to every child.

In the dynamic landscape of early childhood education, the Training and Learning Manager serves as a versatile technical creator, educational coach, and curriculum expert, driving high-quality education and development in the classrooms by actively teaching and partnering with teachers and school leadership. They are critical in collaborating with key stakeholders and departments to align training initiatives with organizational goals and objectives. By working closely with the Education Department, school leadership, and various departments, this role contributes to the strategic oversight of ensuring best-in-class, age-appropriate education delivery across the expanding US network. Through collaborative efforts and effective communication, the Training and Learning Manager drives the delivery of exceptional education and care, upholding Little Sprouts' commitment to providing a safe, equitable, and engaging learning environment for all children.

  • Educational Strategy Development: Develop, articulate, and implement educational and learning quality across our network of schools.
  • Data Proficiency and work with a Facts-Based Approach. Identify, gather, and report upon Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)to make decisions and recommendations grounded in facts and scientifically valid research.
  • Be a Change Agent (and inspire others to be the same). Partner with Facilities and Operational Departments, the COO and other members of the executive team, both locally local and across the Babilou global network, to further evolve, develop, and publicize our schools’ innovative approaches and capabilities.
  • Foster Continuous Learning: Create a culture of continuous learning by designing and delivering comprehensive training programs for educators.
  • Enhance Professional Development: Provide support and guidance for effectively implementing educational expectations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Empower Educators: Equip educators with the tools and resources they need to excel in their roles and positively impact children's lives.
What You’ll Do:
  • Elevate Educational Quality: Develop and implement educational strategies to enhance learning quality and outcomes across all schools.
  • Optimize Learning Experiences: Utilize instructional design strategies to develop engaging and effective learning materials across multiple modalities.
  • Deliver and Develop Training: Design and deliver training programs engaging and impactful training sessions to educators and other stakeholders that meet the diverse needs of adult learners, including in-person sessions, virtual live training, on-the-job training, conferences, and eLearning.
  • Support Educational Expectations Implementation: Provide support for the effective implementation of educational expectations, collaborating closely with school leaders and educators.
  • Manage the Educator Learning Experience: Utilize instructional design principles to create engaging and effective learning experiences across various modalities.
  • Oversee Instructional Design and Development: Design and develop content that meets the needs of adult learners in a training environment, utilizing strategies such as eLearning, webinars, videos, and quick reference guides.
  • Educational Technology: Utilize authoring software such as Articulate or Camtasia to develop interactive and multimedia training materials in SCORM or a similar format.
  • Manage Learning Management Systems: Utilize our learning management system (Schoox) to facilitate training delivery and track learner progress.
  • Apply Adult Learning Theory: Apply principles of adult learning theory to design and deliver effective training programs.
  • Develop Content: Develop training materials for learners and other trainers, including directors, to support professional development initiatives.
  • Event Management: Support the Education Team in managing the organization and execution of the annual CHILD Conference, a pivotal event dedicated to advancing early childhood education.
  • Field Mentoring: Provide field mentoring to ensure fidelity to educational expectations and promote consistency in teaching practices across all schools.

Who You Are:
  • Educational Champion: Related Bachelor's degree required; Training/ certification in Instructional Design preferred, with 2-4 years experience in the early education field
  • Experienced: Demonstrated experience in instructional design, training development, and delivery in an educational setting. Familiarity with adult learning theory, instructional design principles, and educational technology tools.
  • Creative Communicator: Strong creative and problem-solving skills, able to develop innovative solutions to training challenges while conveying complex concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Collaborator: Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Self-starter: Flexible and adaptable, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passionate Learner: Passion for education and commitment to continuous personal and professional development opportunities to improve training materials and delivery methods based on best practices.
  • Digital Navigator: Proficient in O365 and social media platforms, authoring software such as Articulate or Camtasia, and familiarity with learning management systems.
How It Gets Done:
  • Work full-time, 40-hour-a-week hybrid schedule, with occasional off-hours engagements.
  • Sustain long periods at a computer in a sedentary position; manual dexterity is required to operate necessary digital equipment.
  • Travel/ In Person: visit schools across our network and regularly work in the Home Office (in Lawrence, MA) for approximately 33% of your time
  • Physical endurance means standing on your feet for up to 60% of the day. It may include lifting up to 30 pounds, sitting on the floor and crouching, and performing classroom activities with children, including running, jumping, etc.
  • Utilize technology tools and platforms to facilitate training delivery and track learner progress.
