The Community Group is Hiring an Interim Head of School : Early Learning Center (ELC) Near Lawrence, MA

Job Description:

The Interim Head of School, Early Learning Center (HOS-ELC) will work with the Director of Early Learning and the Chief Academic Officer to develop and implement the academic, social, and cultural life of the school. This is a Full-time, exempt role and reports to the Director of Early Learning and Chief of Academics.

Community Day Charter Public School (CDCPS) seeks an Interim Head of School with an outstanding academic background to work with our school teams, which are renowned for closing the achievement gap. CDCPS manages multiple campuses across Lawrence, MA, and serves 1,200 pre-kindergarten to 8th-grade students. We believe in providing our students with a rigorous student-centered academic program while investing in their social, emotional, and holistic well-being. CDCPS has dedicated teams to support our teachers, ensuring our students' success.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Works with the Director of Early Learning and the Chief Academic Officer to develop and implement the academic, social, and cultural life of the school.
  • Manages grade-level teams.
  • Supervises school staff and teachers.
  • Collaborates on the hiring of staff and teachers.
  • Support the implementation of research-based instructional practices and assessment strategies to improve student outcomes.
  • Provide instructional coaching, feedback, and support to teachers to enhance their instructional effectiveness and professional growth.
  • Develops and supports a standards-based curriculum that results in high academic achievement in language and math literacy.
  • Utilizes a system of assessment that incorporates information into effective action planning for all grades and sections in the school.
  • Collaborates on the development and implementation of school policies.
  • Supervises the position of operations manager in supporting all school operations (including physical plant).
  • Supports the parent program that builds positive parent-school partnerships.
  • Collaborates and implements school-related line items on the school budget.
  • Collaborates with other HOS to convene and support parent advisory board; and
  • All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • A passionate belief in CDCPS’ mission, values, and educational model.
  • Master’s Degree preferred; Bachelor’s Degree Required.
  • Seasoned supervisor and accomplished manager with a background in education, a perspective, and a vision for quality education. Driven to set and achieve ambitious, challenging, and tangible goals.
  • Experience working with school-aged children in a PreK to 1st grade setting preferred
  • A willingness to pursue continuous improvement and refinement as well as success.
  • Demonstrated skills in collaborative planning and problem-solving.
  • An ability to lead by example and offer a strong, accessible presence while building a positive culture.
  • Deep understanding of standards-based curriculum and assessment and proven track record of achievement related to student and teacher success.
  • Demonstrated skills in the use of data to inform instruction to promote instructional access and curriculum planning for high-quality special education instruction.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
