Link is looking for a data scientist who can help us to deepen our understanding of the key drivers of our business, including a vast set of location and property features. The role will involve: 1) work to revise and improve existing data models and pipelines; 2) ad hoc analyses of specific supply chain and real estate topics; and 3) the opportunity to help design and build an ambitious product that will present and create insights for the company's acquisitions and investments process. This represents a combination of nuts-and-bolts data modeling and the opportunity to contribute to higher-level insights.

Link's research department is the largest and most successful research effort among Blackstone's portfolio companies. The group's efforts began with using data science models to set and project market rents for all US industrial assets, infrastructure that is now being used by Link and Blackstone in key industrial budgeting and investment decision making processes. The team takes an interdisciplinary approach to supply chain, logistics, and real estate research that draws from a variety of quantitative and primary research methods.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Contribute to process improvement around existing machine learning models and data pipelines. This includes efficient and thoughtful logic for improving data quality

• Help to build an analytics layer that will measure the impact of various thematic factors on customer demand and investment potential across geographies, property size/quality levels, and supply chain structures

• Translate supply chain concepts to ad hoc data science mini-projects. Own these projects end-to-end: ideation, outreach to Link's experts in the field, data analysis and modelling, progress updates to stakeholders, and presentation of findings

• Respond to requests from Link and Blackstone stakeholders for data or analysis

• Prepare visualizations that effectively communicate trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data

• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure data is flowing accurately from data creation/ingestion to our presentation layers

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree required

• Proficient in Python (or R), SQL, and Microsoft Excel

• 1 years of programming experience in data modeling and building ETL pipelines

• Critical and independent thinker

• Willingness to speak up even when others have contrasting opinions

• Desire to learn about goods flow, metro-area economies, and how incentives translate to behavior among our customers and peers

• Comfort with occasional pivots or priority changes based on time-sensitive market activity

$110,000 - $120,000 represents the presently anticipated base compensation pay range for this position at Link. Actual pay may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location and experience.
