Lindsey Wilson College, a four year, liberal arts, church-related college located in Columbia, Kentucky, is seeking a full-time, 12 month, live-in member of the Residence Life Staff. This position serves as a live-in professional staff member with the Residence Life Department. Within Residence Life, this position focuses on enhancing the quality of life of students in the assigned residential area, fostering community, being attentive to safety and security of residents and assisting with facility operations.
The Director of Residence Life will provide leadership in Residence Life and Housing and supervise the entire department’s activities. This is a full time position, requiring some early morning and evening hours, as well as participating in a weekend on-call rotation with other professional staff members. This position will work daily with the Residence Life. It is crucial that an individual can relate well to others and handle administrative responsibilities. This position requires an individual who is flexible to assume a variety of roles and responsibilities.
Duties and responsibilities include:
· Supports and abides by all rules, regulations, and guidelines of the college and serves as an appropriate role model for students at all times.
· Carries out the mission of the Residence Life office. Provides life counseling and referrals to assist students with the student development process.
· Establishes and maintains effective and cooperative working relationships with students, alumni, faculty, employers, and the general public.
· Ensure the safety of 1100 residential students.
· Recruit, train and supervise 40 Resident Assistants.
· Develop, publish, and implement policies and procedures for facilities and students.
· Maintain facilities and report any repairs needed to Physical Plant.
· Promote, organize, advertise and recruit students to participate in programs put on by Residence Life and other campus entities.
· Assist with crisis management and coordinate efforts of staff on call.
· Plan Professional Development opportunities for all staff.
· Maintain accurate program and participant records.
· Assist Director of Student Activities with housing for Summer Camps and Conferences.
· Assist with special campus events in partnership with other campus entities.
· Coordinate disciplinary meetings in conjunction with Assistant Dean of Students and full-time Residence Life staff.
· Maintain budget for entire department.
· Supervise training of all staff in CPR/First Aid through American Red Cross.
· Maintain a positive work atmosphere that embodies the mission of Lindsey Wilson College by working cooperatively with students, parents, faculty and staff.
· Coordinate parking for home football games.
· Remain actively involved in professional activities and associations relative to the position
· Supervision of Men and Women’s Resident Directors, Graduate Assistants, and Student Workers in Residence Life.
Experience programming and supervising professional and student staff. 3-5 years experience in relative field. Proficient in Microsoft Suite and Google Drive. A master’s degree, experience in Residence Life/Student Services, 2 years post-graduate experience, and 3-5 year progressive responsibility is required.
