Fundamentally, the mission of this team is to keep people and pets together. This role achieves this by working with pet owners to provide support and assistance for a wide range of pet needs. It is critical that the Community Support Caseworker approaches every community encounter with respect, kindness, and compassion, and maintains an open mind and inclusive attitude.

· Provide excellent customer service to clients, field officers, coworkers, and volunteers.

· Respond to pet owners requesting assistance.

· Connect owners to community resources such as food banks, medical services, temporary boarding, fence repair, or human services programs.

· Support owners with rehoming when they can no longer keep their pet; partner with rescue/adoptions/foster teams for intake-to-placement pathways for urgent intakes.

· Offer information on spay/neuter, training classes, vaccines, and general pet care.

· Offer pet owners food, crates, runners, and other supplies that may be available.

· Establish, research, and maintain partnerships with community organizations.

· Keep records of all communications and assistance provided to pet owners. Produce reports as requested.

· Take primary responsibility over answering the main phone line.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

· Ability to come up with creative and individualized solutions for each client

· Comfort with ambiguity

· General animal behavior and care knowledge

· Attention to detail and accuracy in communication, note documentation, and data entry

· Knowledge of Google Docs and Google Sheets

· Comfort with using computer software and databases

· Community outreach, social services, or advocacy experience

· Animal experience preferred

· Valid Georgia driver’s license

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, employee may be exposed to a kennel that is not air-conditioned and may be exposed to unpleasant kennel smells. May have to handle dogs and cats that are stray, injured, diseased or vicious.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
