Life Cycle Engineering is Hiring a Mechanical Engineer Near Washington, DC

Mechanical Engineer - Senior
Position Summary:
Life Cycle Engineering is looking for Senior Mechanical Engineers to join the LCE team supporting PMS 300 and 325 in Washington, DC. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will provide support for the Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E); Command, Control, Communications, Computers & Intelligence (C4I); and mission equipment and systems installed aboard ships, boats, craft and targets, including Combat Logistics Force (CLF), Special Mission Ships, and FMS assets.Clearance Required:
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Provide engineering/technical support for concept studies; feasibility studies; preliminary design activities; contract design activities; detail design and construction activities; independent design reviews; In-service ship design and engineering activities; shipboard installation support; and special studies related to ships/boats/craft, ship systems and/or shipboard equipment.
  • Conduct reliability, maintainability, availability, transportability, hazard, environmental, occupational health, safety, risk analyses, and other system engineering analyses. The Contractor shall provide reports, plans, and other substantiating documentation as required.
  • Facilitate and provide required technical information expertise to Integrated Process Teams (IPTs), special advisory boards, off-sites, working groups and audit teams. The Contractor shall perform research and work along with USCG, ABS, and other key stakeholders, such as, the Military Sealift Command (MSC).
  • Provide support in the development, analysis, testing and certification of materials and their application.
  • Review, maintain and make recommendations with regard to engineering plans, annual reports, program records, technical manuals, design histories, design configurations, databases, regulatory body and other documents.
  • Support ongoing ship Detail Design requirements, including the review of shipbuilder's products and deliverables in accordance with Government requirements and the preparation of analyses and recommendations for decisions to the Program Office.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering
  • Senior Level Experience Required, 10 years Navy program management, Government technical management, or Industry business management
  • Navy procedures and Policies (DoD 5000 process)
  • Experience communicating with SES/Flag level personnel
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience working in the mechanical engineering field.
  • Superior computer skills, with solid experience in CAD, CAM, and Matlab/LabView programs.
  • Ability to run simulations and analyze test data.
  • Ability to write clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Highly analytical mind, with exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Physical Demands and Expectations:
  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
  • Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
