Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP, a national leader in plaintiffs’ class action and multidistrict litigation, has an open position for a full-time and experienced records clerk in our New York office.
SUMMARY
Enhances attorney effectiveness by maintaining accurate recordkeeping of information. Sorts, classifies, and may code material for filing and/or data entry into a computerized system.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
· To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
· Must have 2 years of Legal Records experience
· Must know how to index pleadings and correspondence
· Strong sense of urgency
· Demonstrate a professional “can-do” attitude at all times
· Comfortable working in a fast pace and changing environment
· Strong legal document recognition skills
· Familiarity and experience using scanning tools and scanning devices
· Strong attention to detail
· Experience in a law firm or professional services environment
· Experience with Microsoft Office and iManage
· Knowledge of Legal Records software applications, including Autonomy (IRM) and/or Legal KEY
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
· A minimum of a high school diploma or GED required. Completed coursework in legal terminology or paralegal support is highly desirable. In addition, experience and knowledge gained through previous employment at law firms or records management companies is preferred.
TYPING/COMPUTER SKILLS
· Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Outlook) is required. Must have the ability to type a minimum of 45 WPM. Required expert level computer indexing abilities to properly file pleadings, discoveries, and other documents. Must also be familiar with HP digital sender 9200C used to email documents directly to attorneys.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· May be required to perform occasional heavy lifting (30 pounds) of file boxes and documents
SHIFT AND WORK HOURS
· Regular business hours are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Shift hours may vary depending on firm needs.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS DUE TO THE COVID-19
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination administered by a third party will be required as a condition of employment in accordance with applicable law. Such documentation should omit any medical information. Any record of vaccination will be maintained as confidential.
