Accounts Payable Specialist (Construction Experience)

Location: Scottsdale, AZ

Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000 (DOE)

Schedule: Full-time, Onsite, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable Specialist with construction industry knowledge to join our team.

A growing commercial real estate company is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist with experience in construction. This person will be responsible for processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and ensuring timely payments to vendors and suppliers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting practices and be familiar with the unique challenges and requirements of the industry.

Responsibilities:

1. Process a high volume of invoices accurately and efficiently.
2. Review invoices for accuracy, ensuring proper coding and approval.
3. Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.
4. Communicate with vendors regarding payment status and inquiries.
5. Maintain organized and up-to-date accounts payable records.
6. Assist with month-end closing procedures, including accruals and reconciliations.
7. Collaborate with other departments to resolve payment issues and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
8. Provide support for audits and financial reporting as needed.
9. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in construction accounting.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
2. 4 years of experience in accounts payable in the construction industry is required (lien waivers, conditionals, draws)
3. Proficiency in Yardi Voyager and Microsoft Excel preferred
4. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
5. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
6. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Knowledge of construction accounting principles and terminology.
9. Familiarity with lien waivers, progress billing, and job costing is a plus.
