About LGT Transport

LGT Transport is a growing cryogenic transportation company with 9 locations across the United States. We are seeking a Mechanic to join the team at our Omaha, NE Headquarters. Reporting to the Maintenance Director, the candidate must be a self-starter with strong time-management skills.

Job Duties:

• Maintains vehicles, which includes a company’s fleet of trucks, heavy equipment, tractor/trailers, and other motor vehicles.
• Performs routine and preventive maintenance including oil changes and tune-ups.
• Performs tests on specific parts and systems to ensure proper function.
• Identifies mechanical problems either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment.
• Examines critical parts and systems using a standard checklist.
• Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.
• Plans and establishes timetable to complete repairs and maintenance.
• Travels as needed for training or repairs at another terminal.
• Test drives vehicle to confirm safe and proper operation.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/equivalent.
• 3 years of applicable vehicle maintenance and repair experience to over the road Class A tractors and trailers.
• Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle repair.
• Excellent mechanical repair skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read service and repair manuals.
• Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to drive a Class A and Class B tractors.
• Valid Class A CDL.
• Vocational/technical school program or apprenticeship in auto repair or related field.
• Gas and electrical welding experience.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour

Experience:

• Diesel Engine, Truck & Heavy Equipment Mechanics: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• CDL A (Preferred)
