Leo's Market and Eatery is Hiring a Cook 1 - Central Kitchen Near Greenfield, IN

Job Summary

The Cook 1 works in support of the store management team to facilitate the completion of all store level tasks and performs a variety of tasks related to the restaurant including food preparation, from scratch cookery and other culinary duties, proper inventory rotation, and general food service cleaning duties. The Cook 1 ensures an exceptional customer experience through premium food quality that supports our vision to be the first choice in food and convenience.

Principal Duties

1. Wash, cut and prepare a variety of vegetables, slice and portion meats.

2. Execute sequence and time of cooking operations to meet daily production needs

3. Follow complex recipes to uphold strict food quality standards

4. Taste foods to determine their quality, texture, consistency, and flavor.

5. Follow daily production sheets, record in writing the quantities of food items prepared, served, leftovers and waste on the daily production sheet.

6. Make sure all opening and closing checklists are completed on time; complete cleaning lists.

7. Provide and assist on the job training to new hires and student employees, as directed

8. Check in external and internal vendors according to corporate procedures.

9. Help package and fulfill store deliveries, as directed.

10. Complete other tasks as assigned by store management.

Safety and Sanitation

1. Maintain temperature logs and take temperatures of food regularly and record data as instructed by management.

2. Maintain quality and sanitary standards of State and City Health Departments

3. Maintain clean and orderly work area and complete other general cleaning duties, such as mopping/sweeping floors and emptying trash cans and clean equipment.

4. Report to management any safety hazards and equipment in need of repair.

5. Assists in keeping the kitchen, refrigerators and store rooms sanitary and orderly by cleaning utensils, equipment, fixtures and work areas.

2. Greet customers entering store location and follow customer service guidelines.

3. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and bend, stoop and kneel while stocking shelves

4. Ability to learn and understand basic culinary knowledge (i.e. weights and measurements)

5. Ability to work with little or no supervision

6. Excellent oral and written communication skills

7. Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills

8. Ability to apply critical thinking skills in all situations

9. Proven self-starter with demonstrated ability to make decisions

10. Must be able to perform the following physical behaviors repetitively throughout a shift: standing,

walking, handling, reaching horizontally and grasping firmly

11. Ability to learn and utilize the store’s technology

basic qualifications

1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred

2. Reliable transportation

3. Serve Safe Food Handler Certification (To be completed during training, if not already certified)

4. Food Allergy Training (To be completed during training, if not already certified)

5. Previous from scratch cooking and baking experience preferred
