KIDS CAMP COUNSELOR (Seasonal)

MISSION

To personally contribute to the Kids Camp goal of providing fun, educational and varied activities for all campers, in a safe, positive and welcoming environment. To participate in and lead camp activities such as games, arts and crafts, sports, rock climbing, swimming, cooking, special events and field trips.

• Supervise all children enrolled in camp
• Lead games, activities, crafts, etc. as assigned by Camp Director
• Treat all children fairly, but pay special attention to newcomers, shy children, physically or mentally challenged children, or others with special needs
• Ensure the environment is safe for the activities being conducted
• Know and enforce all Kids Camp policies consistently and fairly
• Know and follow all Kids Camp operational procedures
• Keep all club facilities utilized clean, neat and safe, and to help minimize the “impact” on other members and staff. 
• Establish rapport with children and parents; show genuine interest
• Be knowledgeable of other Youth Programming available and help promote these programs to campers and their parents
• Assist in the organized and safe “transport” of campers from one activity to the next throughout the club.
• Ensure that all camp property, equipment and supplies are used and stored properly
• To be accountable for proper registration and supervision of campers, and to interact with parents to keep them informed.
• Direct parents to the Activities Desk for Kids Camp and other youth program registration
• Other responsibilities or projects as assigned by the Junior Programming Director

• Write, speak, read, hear and see
• Stand for prolonged periods
• Work outdoors (exposed to sun and weather conditions)
• Bend, lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
• Set-up and take-down light equipment
• Project voice across crowded, noisy room and outdoors
• Assist children on play and climbing apparatus
• Demonstrate proper use of equipment and game skills
• Perform light housekeeping work
