Executive Director (ALF) Essential Job Functions Duties and Responsibilities

  • Executive Director (ALF) provides an environment for residents that foster positive customer outcomes.
  • Assist with planning, organizing and implementing services, programs and activities, in accordance with all current rules and regulations that apply to Assisted Living Facilities.
  • Executive Director (ALF) participates in the development, maintenance and updating of policies and procedures, job descriptions, in-services and resident care forms for the community.
  • Provide direction and supervision to all staff and support them as needed.
  • Executive Director (ALF) provides written and oral reports to the Regional Director regarding facility performance.
  • Property inspections which includes walk through of communities and grounds with results documented in a written report.
  • Enhance employee and resident relations with the goal of improving survey scores in each area.
  • Assist with vendor issues to insure quality and the best pricing for all communities.
  • Assist in preparation for state surveys and follow up of surveys working closely with the Regional Director for this area.
  • Attend and participate in continuing education programs designed for, and related to this position.
  • Liaison with Regional staff to insure company compliance at all levels.
  • Represent the facility and its’ mission to the residents and staff of the communities and adhere to policies and procedures at all times.
  • Assist with crisis management in the event of an emergency in one of the communities.
  • Review and resolve on all grievances and complaints made by the residents.

Executive Director (ALF) Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism. Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public. Must be able to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and potentially hostile people within the facility. Must be able to speak and write English in an understandable manner.

Executive Director (ALF) Education and Experience

A Bachelor's Degree is necessary. A degree in Public Health Administration or Business Administration, or a health related degree is preferred but not required.

2 years experience in health care management.

Executive Director (ALF) Licensing/Certifications

Must possess a current, unencumbered Assisted Living Director Licensure / Executive Director's license or meet the licensure requirements of this State.
