LASBC is a Southern Florida area non-profit pro bono law firm. Every day, we work hard to meet the legal needs of a large, diverse, multiethnic community across Broward County. Our mission is to provide high-quality, free civil legal advice, representation, and education to the disadvantaged of Broward County. Position Description
LASBC seeks to hire an Immigration Paralegal in its Plantation office to assist the legal team with immigration cases. Experience preparing immigration documents is preferred, but we are willing to accept applicants interested in learning immigration law.
Job Duties:
· Client interviews,
· Case file preparation,
· Case management,
· Drafting of letters and forms for attorney review,
· Scheduling appointments,
· Phone intakes, and translations.
Qualifications
· Strong organizational and time management skills;
· Ability to work independently at times and also as an effective part of a team, including other attorneys, support staff, volunteers, and community partners;
· An ability to balance and manage a variety of responsibilities.
· Strong commitment to social, economic, and racial justice.
· Ability to work effectively across multiple teams
· Ability to speak Spanish or another language in addition to English a plus
Salary and Benefits
This is an exempt position full-time position. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience starting at $45,000. The salary for the successful applicant may be significantly higher based on the applicant’s years of experience.
LASBC offers a generous benefits package that includes health, vision, dental, and life insurance (for the employee), retirement, 13 paid holidays, and generous annual and sick leave allotments starting at 15 days of vacation and 12 days of sick leave per year—good work-life balance.
