Dean of Curriculum Job Description
The Dean of Curriculum and Instruction position is a full-time position accountable for working directly with the Principal to create a strong academic program within the school. Collaborating with the Principal to create year-long curriculum plans and support teachers through the planning and execution process. This person will work to ensure that our students achieve at the highest levels which will bring our school closer to accomplishing our mission of college preparation.
Dean of Curriculum Job Responsibilities
· Own the school’s curriculum development program and work with the Principal to ensure it builds and reinforces academic achievement.
· Accurately monitor and analyze academic results; create new structures to proactively address school’s areas of need.
· Collaborate with the Principal on staff trainings on academics and instruction.
· Provide feedback to teachers on lesson plans, unit plans, and classroom execution.
· Facilitate professional development for teachers with the support of the Principal.
· Deliver feedback via email and in person meetings.
· Assist teachers in setting goals for growth in instruction, execution, and planning.
· Work with the Principal to revise curriculum scope and sequence and pacing plans.
· Evaluates teachers on a biannual basis using the core values rubric.
· Teach two class periods of the day in preferred subject matter.
Dean of Curriculum Job Qualifications
· Unwaveringly high expectations for all students with the belief that every child should have access to a college education.
· Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree preferred.
· NY teacher license preferred
· Three to five years of teaching and educational leadership experience is preferred
· Strong commitment to the mission and vision of Legacy College Prep
· Results-driven educational leader with a commitment to standards-based curriculum and the use of data and assessments to drive instructional decisions
· Strong knowledge of curriculum for specific grade level of students
· Professional demeanor, strong work-ethic, detail-driven work style with excellent organizational skills
· Ability to prioritize, multi-task, delegate, and lead by example
