Lawrence High School is Hiring a SY 24-25 Sub-Separate Special Education Teacher (MSS)- Lawrence High School Near Lawrence, MA

Lawrence High School is seeking a Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with individuals with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities. The candidate will also have excellent classroom management skills and be able to build rapport with children and parents.Duties Include:Structure the classroom to establish and maintain an effective learning environment for students with complex physical, language, learning, and cognitive disabilities per student IEPsParticipate in the Team meeting processDevelop, implement, and monitor progress of IEP goals and objectives to ensure complianceDevelop appropriate instructional materials, activities, & lesson plans taking into consideration cognitive levels and age- appropriateness of studentsEstablish clear learning targets for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those learning targets to studentsPromote a supportive learning and teaching environment that supports the social/emotional well-being of studentsPlan and coordinate with specialists, related service providers, and other staff members to deliver comprehensive programming for studentsCommunicate regularly with parentsMaintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulationsAssist in collection of data for providing appropriate interventions and recommendationsMaintain professional competence by participating in staff development activities, curriculum development meetings, and other professional opportunitiesPerform related duties as required by the building Principal and the Special Education Zone DirectorExperience:Experience working with individuals with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities preferredExperience in special education classrooms preferredCPR and First Aid Certification preferred (or willing to obtain)Previous experience working in special education or other related field preferredAbility to work well under pressure and meet deadlinesExcellent problem solving skills and creativity
