Our law firm is new to Texas with our footprint landing in Austin as we embark on our journey to establish a nationwide office presence. We are a rapidly expanding, general practice law firm originating and operating our executive functions from the Anchorage, Alaska law office. Our principal line of work is family law or “domestic relations” as we say in Alaska, but we also operate criminal defense, wills/trusts/estates, business, and broad personal injury departments.
We’re looking for an associate attorney who is versatile in law due to experience and/or interest, but some family law experience is required (save and except an extraordinary exception).
What sets our firm apart from others in Texas is our compensation structure for associate attorneys and the opportunity for career growth within our firm over time.
Associate Attorney Compensation Structure: Attorneys at our offices are paid 1/3rd of the amount equal to their billable hourly rate x the hours they bill to clients per month. The minimum billing requirement is 80 hours per month, but there is no cap to what attorneys can bill (and therefore earn) each month. PLUS, in addition to retainer fee cases, our associate attorneys take a 1/3rd payout from the firm’s fee awarded in any contingency fee case undertaken by that attorney.
HOW IT WORKS:
· The firm pays for the marketing/advertising to bring in clients
· Department Head Attorneys conduct the potential client consultations and then match cases with our Associate Attorneys based on their preferences and interests
· Associate Attorneys always get to choose whether to accept or reject a case before one is assigned to them (*you control your caseload*)
· And the firm employs a full-time paralegal for each Associate Attorney
Our Associate Attorney Compensation Structure yields an average pay of $150,000 per year for first-year attorneys, however, our highest-paid first-year associate attorney earned $251,511.25.
Career Growth Opportunities: We offer career growth opportunities including department chairmanships, individual and area office management, junior partnerships, and senior partnerships. Associate Attorneys hired for our Austin office are eligible to become a junior partners after 3 years of employment.
Our benefits and compensation include:
· $130,000 - $300,000 or more per year,
· Fully paid medical coverage,
· Optional dental and vision at a low cost,
· 401k retirement plan with employer matching, and
· Liberal time off (that is, as much time off as you want when you want, so long as you maintain your case deadlines and meet your monthly minimum billing requirement, averaging to four billable hours per business day).
