This is why our employees love working here:

“We all care about one another, try to lend a hand when needed, and we try to be as flexible as possible”. - Joyce Rettura

“I recently joined LHIG, and the company has provided me with a very meaningful career and great work-life balance. Since day one, I’ve worked with a team of talented insurance experts who help one another in a family-like work environment to deliver top-notch insurance services. I have access to the resources and support that I need to continuously grow in my profession at the agency. Our successes are genuinely valued. I could not ask for better bosses and this is a great place to work!" Julia B. (5 months in LHIG)

"I have needed a lot of support and assistance and I’ve felt the love from everyone top to bottom. I wouldn’t have been able to make the moves I made without the help of LHIG. What keeps me coming is I’m excited to come to work every day. I love the people I work with and meet throughout the day. Something special here that you can’t find elsewhere is the happy work environment. Everyone helping everyone is a good thing. I’m very appreciative for the opportunity to work here with these lovely people." - Mike R. (1 year)

"Here, I have been given the support and training as well as a great foundation. Having come from a background with NO insurance experience, I have found a career that I truly enjoy and understand. There has been constant support from the staff to help better my skillset with the tools I need to educate and service the clients. I can be a present mom and wife for my family. Understanding there are limited (usually fun!) outside-of-work time (9a-5p) events that usually my family can be in attendance for is a huge help. Understanding my need to be a great mom to my children is huge in allowing me to dedicate time to a career." - Chrissy M. (4 years)

"I love being a part of the LHIG team because I feel valued in my position. There is a great deal of reciprocity among workers, who all recognize each other’s opinions. It’s a privilege to work with people who mix hard work and dedication to mold a strong agency. Compared to other businesses, LHIG stands out, audaciously caring not only for customers but for employees, too." - Sohpie M. (2-year intern)

"The family orientation has kept me with them. The owners of the company believe in each one of their employees, which is very important in a work atmosphere, which in turn, extends to our personalized service to our customers. The owners are very supportive focused and goal-oriented. I pride myself on service in putting the customer first and the culture of the company makes it easy to do. I love my job, the products they provide, my customers, and of course, my Laurel Highlands family." - Susan B. (10 years)

"“Rising Tides Lift All Ships” After a long sales career with various companies I learned successful companies raise successful professionals through support and sometimes knowing when to stay out of the way. Most companies preach “culture” and “upward growth” while still having a very strict corporate atmosphere that restricts you from reaching your full potential as a professional. I joined Laurel Highlands Insurance years ago because they have built their agency in reverse. With double-digit growth every year, Laurel Highlands invests back into their staff by increasing support to reach the next level in their career along with having work flexibility with a family atmosphere in the office. I look forward to each day and love seeing what we accomplish together every year." - Randy B.(4 years)

"The best part of working here is that we matter not only as employees but as individual human beings – the lines of communication are open with management in a real way." - Jackie T. (27 years)

"The most important thing that LHIG offers is the acceptance of personal and family issues that may arise for all the workers. Whether it is a health issue or a baby-sitting problem LHIG will understand and make a full effort in helping to fill whatever time is needed for an employee to take care of their problem. I’ve seen this over the years and the response is always the same: "Go and take care of your problem! Take your time and get better! We will pay for the cost of the therapy if needed!" I don’t think an employee could ask for more understanding owners. Let’s not forget how much you guys give back in bonuses and dinners along with the picnics and parties. I think it should be apparent to everyone that you try to make your employees as happy as possible." - Larry A. (25 years)

"After landing my first job as a Financial Analyst I was convinced I had done all the right things to prepare myself for a lifelong fulfilling career. Little did I know, that my idea of success vs. reality was not what I had expected. I struggled for 10 years trying to find my way and a niche that I could pursue and reap the fruits of my labor. There are no words to express how fortunate I was to have been allowed to enter the insurance industry at the Laurel Highlands Insurance Group. An industry, in which I vowed never to work, saved me mentally and financially and gave me a new purpose in my career. Laurel Highlands has given me the tools and freedom to create a financial and personal lifestyle I always wanted but was never able to attain under traditional career paths. It has been an environment of success due to a work-hard play hard culture and the management’s true dedication and belief in educating, nurturing, and supporting its employees on how to create a work-life balance. At the end of the day I am proud to be a part of this group, and it has given me a sense of purpose, belonging, and a career focus I never thought was possible." - Mike C. (12 years)

About Us:

Our Roots

Since 1939, the Laurel Highlands Insurance Group LLC has represented Erie Insurance and many other fine carriers. The agency, one of the oldest tenured in the company's history, was originally appointed by Erie Insurance founder H.O. Hirt.

In 1997, Joseph Rettura Jr. became the Agency Principal setting the foundation of our agency today. In 2010 Joe’s son, JJ Rettura, joined the agency and together they expanded the business to three locations (Uniontown, Belle Vernon, & Masontown) to better serve over 11,000 policies across Southwestern PA. The agency and staff have grown, but one thing will never change:

"to provide as near perfect sales and service to our clients as humanly possible and to do it with an educated, competent, and respectful staff. Each client is the most important person in the world and will be treated as such.”

Our open-door policy invites people to come in and talk to anyone here, even if it is to talk about their lives, children, Pittsburgh sports, or extracurricular activities such as telling hunting and fishing stories.

Each member of our 14-person team is a competent, state-licensed employee who will give you honest and professional advice. With over 260 combined years of knowledge and experience, we invite your family to become a part of ours.

Our Mission

We understand the challenges families face today because we face them too. We believe in thinking “out of the box,” and we are not afraid to challenge conventional wisdom in our approach to insurance and protection. All our energy, commitment, and efforts are focused on you, the client, and your satisfaction. Our agency is dedicated to utilizing all resources available to help keep what (and who) matters the most, safe.

Client-Centered

Whether you are looking for help protecting your family, your home, or your assets, our personalized service focuses on your needs, wants, and long-term goals.

Our team has years of experience in the insurance industry. We can help you address your needs of today and for many years to come. We look forward to working with you.
