Director of Quality & Design Assurance

Lasko Products, a market leader in home comfort products for over 100 years, is looking to add a Director of Quality & Design Assurance to the team in our West Chester, PA headquarters, or our light manufacturing facilities in Fort Worth, TX or Franklin, TN. 

In this role, you will have Strategic and tactical responsibility for implementing Quality strategy and strategic operational goals to exceed customer expectations for product quality, cost, and delivery, optimizing production quality levels and supporting operational excellence.

The Director of Quality and Design Assurance leads both domestic and international quality teams and will be responsible for quality assurance at a plant level as well as supplier quality. You will be expected to champion continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives to establish an effective Total Quality Management System. The Director of Quality will have a domestic team of 15 personal reporting directly to him or her with an additional team of 20 international quality personnel that have indirect reporting.

 Primary Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for Quality and Continuous Improvement activities across the business
  • Lead and manage the quality function from new product conception through to warranty analysis to ensure a proactive culture so that customers receive the product to the highest standard of quality possible
  • Drive any necessary culture change and improvement in business performance to deliver strategic goals
  • Establish quality and reliability standards by studying industry benchmarks and the requirements of customers and research/design and development, and define the metrics required to assess performance against standards required
  • Establishes and implements metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring system effectiveness and to enable managers to make sound product quality decisions
  • Establishes collection and analysis systems of statistical data to predict trends that will affect improvement of product quality
  • Lead and organize formal/informal problem solving in areas of scrap, process capability warranty, etc. Provide training in quality systems and related areas such as APQP, BOS, Problem Solving, Statistical Process Control, Gage R&R and DOE
  • Develops, implements, manages, and integrates a QMS for manufacturing plants
  • Lead and coach a diverse set of quality engineers and managers tasked with automated and manual testing as well as building the internal tools and infrastructure to efficiently execute this testing
  • Lead the design assurance function for new product development (NPD) projects to ensure all quality objectives are met and products are developed in accordance with design control requirements.
  • Define strategy for supplier quality improvement and design assurance activities. Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify and pursue systemic improvement opportunities.
  • Designs, implements, and documents procedures for Quality Control and Assurance.

  • Cost of Poor Quality
  • Defective Rate/First Pass Yield
  • Warranty Return Rate
  • Major Quality Concerns resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineer, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 Years of Experience in leading large quality teams
  • Experience with Quality Management System and ISO9001:2015 implementation
  • Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification Required
