Lantern Crest Senior Living is Hiring a Maintenance Assistant Near Santee, CA

Job Summary:
The Maintenance Assistant at Lantern Crest Senior Living will play a crucial role in ensuring that our community and residents have a safe, clean, and well-maintained living environment. This individual will work as part of our skilled labor team to perform maintenance and repair tasks in both common areas and resident living spaces. The Maintenance Assistant is a full-time, hourly position located in Santee, California, and reports directly to the Plant Services Director.
Compensation & Benefits:
The Maintenance Assistant position offers an hourly rate commensurate with experience and skills. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, retirement savings plans, and ongoing training and development opportunities.
Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry repairs
  • Proactively identify and address potential building maintenance issues
  • Respond to work orders and complete repairs in a timely and efficient manner
  • Maintain records of completed work and communicate any unresolved maintenance issues to the Plant Services Director
  • Complete daily checks and inspections of equipment and systems to ensure proper functioning
  • Assist with apartment turnovers, including painting, cleaning, and minor repairs
  • Keep maintenance shop, tools, and equipment clean and in good condition
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with residents and team members
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of experience in building maintenance or related field
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry preferred
  • Proficient with hand and power tools
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to take initiative
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Equipment Used: iPad and radios.
  • Oral/Written Communication Skills: Ability to interact tactfully with residents and family members, staff, and the general public. Ability to make decisions in stressful situations. Exceptional listener and communicator who effectively conveys information verbally and in writing. The ability to make warm, positive connections with residents, families, vendors, and team members is a must.
  • Good physical health is verified by a health screening, including a tuberculosis screening by intradermal test or chest x-ray prior to employment.
  • Other (As required by Title 22): Employee must pass a criminal record clearance prior to employment.
