Description

Job Summary:

This position exists for the purpose of teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses primarily in the area of New Testament and biblical studies.

Department: Bible & Theology Department

Reports to: Program Chair, B&T Undergraduate

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

  • The ability to create and maintain a Christian professional atmosphere in all internal and external relationships.
  • A spirit of cooperation and willingness to serve as a team member.
  • A professional appearance.
  • Critical thinking skills in personal theology with ability to develop it in students.
  • Able to interact with and discuss different positions appropriately.

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of Ph.D. from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of higher educational teaching experience is desired.
  • A positive reputation as a scholar, theologian, educator and communicator.
  • Familiar with the current literature in the area.
  • A minimum of 5 years of ministry experience is preferred.
  • A well articulated philosophy of education.

Special Skills – to apply professional and/or technical tasks to the job responsibilities

  • Proficiency with New Testament Greek language.
  • Proficiency with word processing, general computer skills, and LBC | Capital’s instructional technologies (i.e., Learning Management System, Video Conferencing, etc.)
  • An ability to relate to undergraduates and graduates and relate biblical studies to them.
  • An ability to work with colleagues on corporate projects.
  • Proficient as a communicator in written and oral formats.
  • Proficiency with general computer skills.
  • An ability to design instruction.
  • An ability to help develop and teach online courses.

Job Tasks – to determine specific tasks required of the position

  • Teach courses as assigned at the undergraduate, and/or graduate level in face-to-face, blended, and online format which may require teaching during the day, evening, and/or weekend (12 credits per semester as part of salary load).
  • Participate in Bible and theology department meetings and activities.
  • Participate on assigned faculty committee(s).
  • Maintain/offer office hours for students and faculty consultation and support.
  • Advise students as needed.
