Position Title: Director of Multiple Listing Service (“MLS”) and Membership Services

About Us: The Lake Superior Area REALTORS, Inc. is a membership driven organization. We exist to advance the success of our members and advocate for the real estate industry. Collectively, we represent over 800 real estate agents that are REALTORS and other individuals and companies that share our mission. The organization is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The day-to-day operations are supported by paid staff. Our office is located in Duluth. Our membership area covers 13 counties in Northern Minnesota and Northwestern Wisconsin.

Position Summary: The Director of MLS and Membership Services will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation, management, and oversight of the MLS Services and Membership Services of the Lake Superior Area REALTORS, Inc.

Responsibilities and Duties

MLS Services

  • Responsible for overseeing daily activities and operations of the Multiple Listing Service.
  • Responsible for MLS compliance and enforcement.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and maintenance of accurate MLS records.
  • Identifies and successfully resolves MLS listing problems.
  • Plans, oversees, and assists with development of MLS programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Responsible for all MLS training for current members, new members, and staff.
  • Presents products and services to the appropriate committee and/or staff for review.
  • Works with vendors and providers of MLS and connected services.
  • Provides support to members on MLS services and other products and services, such as showing software, lockboxes, and earnest money software.
  • Along with vendor partners, maintains our MLS software, website, and other channels.
  • Oversees customer service and satisfaction for all MLS services and products delivered.
  • Facilitates and directs MLS committee; prepares agendas and minutes.
  • Other job-related responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.

Membership Services

  • Responsible for ensuring accurate membership records are being created and maintained.
  • Manages Member Service/MLS staff member(s); performs regular evaluations to determine areas of improvement.
  • Implements membership strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of existing members.
  • Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
  • Promotes program and membership enrollment with existing and potential members. Coordinates program registration, including logistics to support phone, walk-in and web registration. Coordinates with marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and provides ongoing support to other association programs on related issues.
  • Organizes membership events and other events to promote the association.
  • Prepares membership communications in mediums such as mass email communications, social media, and the LSAR website.
  • Coordinates, plans, and implements continuing education courses and workshops for the association pursuant to all the applicable regulations.
  • Participates in staff meetings and/or related meetings.
  • Other job-related responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.

Qualifications

  • Must be a self-starter, having the ability to learn new things and take on new challenges with little support and oversight.
  • Proficient in technology and computer programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and excellent organization skills
  • Exceptional customer service and support skills
  • Highly effective at “multi-tasking”
  • Managerial experience and/or demonstration of leadership experience in other organizations.
  • Experience in the real estate industry is a plus but is not required.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree OR a combination of postsecondary education and relevant professional experience of 5 years.
