- Employ effective communication and collaboration skills when interacting with students, faculty, and parents, to ensure a cohesive educational experience for students.
- Facilitate a classroom environment that encourages student collaboration and discourse, enhancing the learning experience for all.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and refine course learning objectives, common assessments, and curricula.

- Partner with Special Education and Student Services to meet the needs of identified students.
- Use technology proficiently and ethically for planning, collaboration, instruction, and assessment.
- Strong foundational knowledge in Social Studies.
- Skills in fostering a classroom environment in which the lives and needs of all students are validated, recognized, and appreciated.
- Skills in differentiating instruction to meet the varied needs and interests of students.
- Skills in mentoring students, particularly those with multilingual backgrounds, to develop literacies and a sense of community within the classroom.
- Use of collaboration and professional development toward the improvement of teaching practices and outcomes for students.
- Proven track record of successfully collaborating with colleagues on curriculum development, the alignment curriculum with standards, and the implementation of effective instructional practices.
- A plan for continued professional growth and development in areas critical to Social Studies Scholarship including critical reading, analytical writing, evidenced-based writing, and executive functioning.
