Laidig Systems, Inc. is actively interviewing candidates for a Custom Shipping Container Carpenter. Laidig is looking for a positive, high energy, self-directed individual to join our growing team.

This is a first shift position.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION: The Custom Shipping Container Carpenter requires one to three (1-3) years of work experience as a Carpenter. High school diploma or equivalent is required with demonstrated hands-on proficiency in building from print or scratch wooden structures used for shipping containers.

JOB DESCRIPTION: the Custom Shipping Container Carpenter will operate manual panel saw, radial arm saw, pneumatic nail, and staple guns, and general carpentry tools to build custom wooden protective shipping containers for domestic and international transportation. Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of assigned building area. Must be capable of reading dimensional prints, effectively read a tape measure and use of general carpentry tools, i.e. squares. Perform custom fabrication of shipping containers from 2x4, 4x4 and OSB sheeting construction. Obtain and transfer wood to work area, manually or with overhead cranes. Use computer to claim all work activities into labor reporting software throughout working day.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Use required safety equipment and PPE at all times.
• Maintain a clean and well-organized work area at all times.
• Daily attendance on all scheduled work days.
• Work in a safe and efficient manner; obey all safety rules and regulations.
• Advise Production Supervisor of any departmental or machine specific problems.
• Maintain company issued tools.
• Perform other activities as required by supervisors.
• Cross train as required.
• Exhibit good character traits such as initiative, excellent attendance, desire to learn, honesty, and a positive attitude.
