Laidig Systems is Hiring a Material Handler Near Mishawaka, IN
Laidig Systems, Inc. is actively interviewing candidates for a Material Handler/Forklift Operator. Laidig is looking for a positive, high energy, self-directed individual to join our growing team.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION for a Material Handler: High school diploma or equivalent with demonstrated hands on proficiency in forklift operations and material handling. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license. Forklift certificate or license from previous employer desirable. This position requires satisfactory completion of Laidig forklift training program.
JOB DESCRIPTION for a Material Handler: Load, unload, move, stack and store efficiently and safely shipments to assigned storage locations. Read work orders or pick lists and follow oral instruction to determine what materials need to be packed, shipped or stored into inventory. Operates motorized forklift to assist in loading or moving materials throughout the manufacturing plant from pallets, racks, or staging areas. Operate overhead crane to load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments. Record and validate receiving quantities to purchase order quantities. Allocate inventory locations and log into inventory computer system.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES for Material Handler:
- Use safety equipment at all times.
- Know the limits of the equipment being used.
- Advise Production Supervisor of any departmental problems.
- Work in a safe and efficient manner; obey all safety rules and regulations.
- Maintain a clean and well-organized work area at all times.
- Work overtime as required.
- Perform other activities as required by supervisors.
- Cross train as required.
- Exhibit good character traits such as initiative, excellent attendance, desire to learn, honesty, and a positive attitude.
This is a first shift position.
