Career and Professional Programs at LaGuardia Community College is seeking a part-time instructor to teach a hybrid IT Support Specialist Certificate training to prepare students for entry-level IT Support Specialist jobs. The course also prepares students for the CompTIA A certification exam.
Course Topics Include :Installing, configuring and maintaining PCs, mobile devices and software for end users; explore basics of networking and security forensics; properly and safely diagnose, resolve and document common hardware and software issues; and discuss basics of scripting, virtualization, desktop imaging and deployment. General topics include hardware and network troubleshooting, operating systems, operational procedures, security, virtualization and cloud computing, and software troubleshooting

Position: Continuing Education Teacher (CET)
Pay Rate-$50/hr.
Responsibilities:
· Delivering Engaging Training Sessions: Design and deliver dynamic and engaging training sessions that cover the essential concepts and skills required for the CompTIA A certification. Ensure that the course content aligns with the certification objectives and industry best practices.
· Creating Interactive Instructional Materials: Develop instructional materials, including presentations, lab exercises, practical scenarios, and simulations. Utilize diverse teaching methodologies, such as interactive discussions, hands-on activities, and case studies, to cater to different learning styles and enhance student engagement.
· Providing Expertise in Computer Support Network Technician topics : Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of hardware, installation, programming, maintenance, networking, routing, troubleshooting, and repair of computers and other IT equipment, following outlines, handouts, hands-on experience covered in the CompTIA A curriculum.
· Facilitating Hands-on Learning: Guide students through practical labs and exercises to help them apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios. Foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills by providing guidance and feedback during hands-on activities, enabling students to develop practical skills.
· Assessing Student Progress: Evaluate student progress through regular assessments, assignments, quizzes, and exams. Provide constructive feedback to help students identify areas for improvement and reinforce their understanding of cybersecurity concepts. 6.
· Responsible for accurately recording student attendance and tracking their performance throughout the course.
· The instructor must be committed to allocate additional time outside of class for preparation, grading, and other related tasks.
· Must be available to attend program and instructional orientation sessions, which may require a commitment of up to 2 hours, prior to the start of the training program.
Requirements:
· Computer Service Network Technician Training Topics: Expert understanding of hardware components, operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), troubleshooting methodologies, and basic networking concepts.
· Instructional Skills: Ability to deliver engaging and effective training sessions.
· Strong Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical information in a clear and concise manner.
· Industry Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in Computer Tech
· Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as information technology, or computer science) is preferred.
· Must hold a CompTIA A certification.
· Teaching Experience: Prior experience in teaching, training, or mentoring individuals in IT-related topics is a strong asset.
