La Jolla Country Club is Hiring a Food & Beverage Supervisor (FT) Near La Jolla, CA

SUMMARY:
Provides personal courteous, professional, and prompt attention to members and their guests while in the Banquet/Dining Facilities. Serves as a support role to the Food & Beverage Director and Food and Beverage Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  • Serve as a representative of the Club, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other staff, management, members and guests. 
  • Comply with all Club Safety Regulations and participation in ongoing Safety Seminars.
  • Cultivate a positive, productive work environment through communication, effective and positive conflict resolution skills, vision, teamwork, and commitment.
  • Perform duties in accordance with company policies and procedures as they apply to the Food and Beverage Department.
  • Review, monitor and execute Banquets and Club Events per Banquet Event Orders (BEO’s). 
  • Present pre-shift instructions in accordance with Food and Beverage Department standards if requested.
  • Actively participates in the service of members/guests when necessary. This service includes, but is not limited to: taking cocktail/beverage and food orders; assisting Bartender; act as a Back-waiter; assisting in reset of tables.
  • Control staff breaks and meal periods and report violations to Food and Beverage Director.
  • Checks closing side work for Servers, Bussers, Expeditors and Bartenders. Document and report any issues or challenges to management.
  • Conducts daily food ticket audits. Inspect storage rooms daily and direct Club Steward(s) regarding clean-up if necessary.
  • Collaborate with Food and Beverage Director regarding matching of staffing vs changes in business levels.
  • Assist Food and Beverage Director in the development and presentation of all food service training programs (i.e. product knowledge, service techniques, member recognition, personal hygiene and appearance, decorum and professionalism, positive attitudes, teamwork, single topic training sessions).
  • Provide input if requested for all food service performance evaluations based upon observations relative to existing job descriptions and service guidelines.
  • Initiate and maintain a high level of verbal communication with Food and Beverage Director to enhance the flow of information regarding all facets of food service.
  • Encourage teamwork between front and back of the house.
  • Check in with a Manager (Food and Beverage Director).
  • Monitor reservations for a la carte service-meet, greet and seat and controls business volume to avoid overwhelming a la carte line.
  • Notify Servers/Bussers when tables are seated.
  • Maintain menus, podium and side phone tables.
  • Inspect service areas, as well as all public areas of clubhouse, daily walk around inspecting entrances, cleanliness, lighting levels, environmental controls, music levels, safety hazards, and maintenance work orders.
  • Complete knowledge of all POS functions - PCS training.
  • Assist Lead Bartender with inventory management.
  • Assist Servers in getting wines, presenting and serving.
  • Communicate to staff consistently according to LJCC policies.
  • Support LJCC Safety Program by leading by example, and following through with all corrective and disciplinary procedures.
  • Follow all responsibilities, policies and procedures in the LJCC Employee Manual and LJCC Management Policy & Procedural Guide.
  • Enforce LJCC rules and procedures as described in the LJCC Employee Manual, LJCC Injury and Illness Prevention.
  • Program Manual, LJCC Policy & Procedure Manual, and LJCC Rules and By-Laws.
  • Must be able to keep all issues confidential without exception.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills Required:
  • Advanced knowledge of food and wine pairings.
  • Must possess complete knowledge of all menu items as well as wine list and available bar drinks.
  • Must display confidence in making food recommendations, wine recommendations, answering any questions, etc.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with members, guests and employees. Understanding of English language is essential for communication with members and guests.
  • Must have prior experience as a server in banquets or fine dining.
  • Must have bartending experience.
  • Must be available nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment.
