How Will You Contribute to La Colombe's Mission?
The Cost Accounting Manager to work with our Plant Controller, distribution and manufacturing managers, as well as the accounting/finance team and upper management, to help us achieve maximum efficiency, ensure proper costing of our products, drive continual improvement of our internal control environment and identify expense saving opportunities. This role will be responsible for the cost accounting, cost analysis, inventory valuation for multiple sites and
business units and participating in the month end close and budgeting. This role requires an experienced and forward-thinking professional with operational experience and a proven track record of creative problem solving and change management.
Your Main Responsibilities:
Collecting and analyzing data in relation to the company’s manufacturing and inventory costs
Developing and analyzing cost standards
Ensuring bills of material are accurate and complete for all products
Identifying costs related to labor, shipping, and various overhead components, and formulating a proper allocation
Lead the development & ongoing management of costing method/process for new products and for labor and overhead allocations for old and new products, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting guidance
Actively Participate in all financial cycle close, prepare journal entries related to cost allocation, inventory adjustments, and reserves analysis, analyze and reconcile key inventory
Establish inventory reserves for both raw materials and finished goods
Recommend changes to the company’s processes and policies to reduce cost and maximize profit
Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, and financial leadership to provide reporting, analysis, and guidance on inventory and other accounts
Assist in the preparation of year-end audit schedules
Organize and direct performance of the annual physical inventory and subsequent reconciliation
Be an advocate for change, continually challenging the status quo while looking for areas to simplify how both the team and wider business execute
Participate in special projects and perform other accounting related duties as needed.
What You Will Need:
7 Accounting/Finance experience in a manufacturing environment
Cost accounting or supply chain finance experience a plus or preferred
Minimum of 3 years of experience with ERP systems; experience with ERP conversions a plus
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Strategic thinker and problem solver with the ability to turn ideas into action while working with cross functional teams
Excellent analytical and communication skills (written and verbal)
Demonstrated understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Complete understanding of inventory, inventory control, and valuation
Solid work ethic with a high level of energy and integrity
Developing and implementing processes, methods, and tools to increase efficiency and accuracy
