Kumon Math and Reading Center of Seattle-Queen Anne is Hiring a Classroom Assistant Near Seattle, WA

Job description

Love working with kids? We are a small, family-owned franchise that is looking to add another positive member to our team. We are searching for someone who has had experience working with children of all ages (pre-K to high school).

Classroom Assistant Duties:

Early Learning & Primary Instruction:

  • Effectively and efficiently multitask with 1-2 younger or newer Kumon students at a time to provide instruction through utilization of the Kumon Method and provided worksheets
  • Ensure proper study habits and work skills are being developed and train the students in center routine
  • Individualizing strategies for student development based on student goals and communication with instructor
  • On-going assessment of student skills development
  • Develop own knowledge of Kumon method and worksheets

Grading:

  • Grading of student classwork, homework, and corrections and organizing of student worksheets
  • Ensuring student classwork is completed and corrected to 100%
  • Assessing oral reading ability with reading students and providing necessary feedback
  • Provide assistance/guidance to students, as needed, adhering to Kumon Method standards and center procedures
  • Provide instructor with written or verbal feedback, as needed, based on student observations and/or student performance on worksheets
  • Other duties as requested

Front Desk Relief and Support:

  • Answer incoming phone calls and emails
  • Communicate with students and parents during class-time and addressing student and parental needs - professionally, quickly, and quietly
  • Assist with book check in/out
  • Booking center appointments
  • Assisting with the enrollment process
  • Relay messages and parental concerns to the Instructor or Assistant Instructor in a timely manner
  • Prepare student files and record keeping
  • Assist with marketing initiatives and retention events (ex: student awards, goal-setting parties)
  • Restocking supplies and maintain office/classroom cleanliness
  • Test prospective students and assist with new student orientations
  • Help manage college-aged staff in the absence of the Instructor or Assistant Instructor

  • Punctual, well-organized & reliable
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Personable/friendly while greeting parents/students
  • Does well under pressure and tight deadlines

Current Class Hours:

  • We expect our Classroom Assistant to work 20-25 hours per week, including before and after class hours ·hours (hours are flexible as we have many staff who are students)
  • In-person classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:00-6:30.
