Based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Icon Industrial Services is conveniently located in the Midwest, which allows them to provide services for hundreds of manufacturing and processing clients throughout the Central United States. Their crews are equipped to travel to client locations and will bring all the experience, tools and equipment needed to complete your project.

We are working alongside Icon Industrial Services to find a Safety & Risk Management Specialist passionate about facilitating training and partnering with their industrial clients throughout the Central United States to consult on safety and risk management practices. The successful candidate will be on site regularly performing safety observations, assisting the location and key partners, coordinating the risk management process, supporting the development and implementation of safe work practices, and other duties to drive the safety culture within the site.

The Safety & Risk Management Specialist assists with inspections, accident investigations, conducts safety meetings, and the overall implementation of the Project Safety and Health Program. They shall also be responsible for compiling and maintaining necessary records, logs, and other reports pertaining to safety required by the contractor, client, Federal, State and Local regulations.

The ideal candidate will have experience in safety around manufacturing and/or industrial fields and will promote a positive safety culture. This individual would need to be willing to travel approximately 40% of the time. Be a key contributor to improvement and engagement for the Safety and Risk programs. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safety Audits. Coordinates quarterly comprehensive on-site safety audits. Periodically inspects and evaluates the project site, equipment and processes for compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company and owner policies and procedures.
  • Communication. Regularly communicate with team members and stakeholders to optimize individual and team performance. Provide routine dashboard reports for verification and distribution to help leadership make informed decisions.
  • Training Programs. Develop and administer required safety orientation and training programs. Implement all regular and special safety training as needed.
  • Field Presence. Develop strong relationships with operation teams and coordinate with the site or area managers to ensure compliance with workers comp systems utilized throughout different locations.
  • Site Training Coordinator. Maintain employee safety and training records, including distribution of training materials for operational units.
  • Workers Comp. Work closely with President on workers compensation and insurance operations to review, analyze and process employee injuries and property damage incidents.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, or Safety preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in administrative, safety, manufacturing, or a related field preferred. Willing to consider a new graduate from an accredited safety program.
  • Certifications in Safety and/or Risk Management preferred.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office programs. Microsoft Excel is used extensively in this role.
  • Knowledge of risk management, public entity laws, and loss control practices.
  • Ability to develop and present effective training programs.
  • Strong planning and coordination skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks under ambitious timelines.
  • Ability to coordinate a strategy plan.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Physical Demands:

  • The Safety & Risk Management Specialist must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, and work in various environments, including outdoors and in confined spaces.

Work Environment:

  • The Safety & Risk Management Specialist will office at our Cedar Rapids, IA location. Candidate needs to expect regular travel to our job site locations to conduct safety inspections, coordinate with field crews, train employees and interface with clients.
