Our client is looking for an experienced Accountant  to oversee and track and evaluate day-to-day financial tasks for their construction industry company located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa .

They are looking for a motivated candidate who can independently handle multiple tasks and easily manages multiple jobs at the same time. Some accounting responsibilities include establishing financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting information. You will be responsible for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll and Job Costing as well as general administrative functions. Under the leadership of the executive team, you will play a vital role in our operations in a growing, fast paced, friendly environment. Must be organized and systems oriented. 

They are looking for an experienced, confident professional who can take charge of the payroll and financial processes and provide important administrative support to the leadership team with minimal guidance. Roles and responsibilities can change depending on the needs of the organization making versatility and a positive attitude a must. The office is a casual, friendly environment.

Responsibilities:

• Handling monthly payroll using accounting software. 
• Maintains records of financial transactions by establishing accounts; posting transactions; ensure legal requirements compliance.
• Maintains subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.
• Balances subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries.
• Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries.
• Balances general ledger by preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries.
• Maintains historical records by filing documents.
• Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
• Prepare job costing reports and commission statements.
• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising management on needed actions.
• Contributes to the financial team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Provide guidance and supervise bookkeepers in the department.
• Drive initiatives for improvement in process and technology.

Position Requirements:

• Thorough understanding of bookkeeping practices and procedures.

• Excellent knowledge of general accounting principles.

• Able to prepare, review and understand a financial statement.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of spreadsheets and accounting software.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to speak, read and write in the English language.

Education and Experience:

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting with 4 years of experience (preferred).
