Job Description:


GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Quality System Specialist will be responsible for the support and maintenance of the Quality Management System within ISO9001, AS9100, DCMA, DCAA, DoD, and other statutory/regulatory requirements. Specifically, functions including the document control system, corrective and preventive action system, and internal audits are the primary responsibilities of this position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Quality System Specialist I

  • Responsible for the general support and maintenance of the Quality Management System within AS9100 and ISO 9001 and other statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Supports internal quality audits, corrective and preventive action closures, and other measures to ensure the effectiveness of the quality management system.
  • Supports document control system related tasks and assignments.
  • Performs administrative tasks related to audit activities, such as preparing meeting agendas, writing audit summary reports, and facilitating closing meetings.
  • Supports analysis of department and internal audit data to identify trends.
  • Supports the creation and implementation of quality management system training.

Quality System Specialist II

  • Conducts internal quality audits, corrective and preventive action closures, and other measures to ensure the effectiveness of the Quality Management System.
  • Supports document control system by facilitating document creation and approvals.
  • Assists process owners in generating or updating standard operating procedures or work instructions to define and improve Quality Management System functions.
  • Assists process owners in revising existing documentation and processes as part of a company-wide continuous improvement initiative.
  • Supports process owners in creating forms, reports, and tools needed to support business processes.
  • Applies clear, concise written language to describe process criteria, activities, and decision points.
  • Develops and documents process flows.
  • Reviews documentation change requests for content and completeness.
  • Conducts cross-functional reviews to identify the impact of Quality Management System documentation changes on other processes. Ensures changes will not harm the effectiveness of the Quality Management System.
  • Monitors quality management system metrics to ensure quality objectives and targets are met.
  • Creates, implements, and provides quality management system training.

Quality System Specialist III

  • Leads the execution of internal quality audits and provides mentorship to the audit team to continuously assess internal auditor skills and recommend necessary improvements or additional training.
  • Ensures applicable AS9100 and ISO9001 standard requirements are within documented procedures.
  • Identifies and resolves gaps within the quality management system.
  • Works with process owners to develop measurements and metrics to evaluate process effectiveness.
  • Creates, implements, and provides quality management system training.
  • Coordinates and maintains the master internal and external audit schedule and ensures that audits are completed as planned.
  • Ensures all auditors complete audit documentation and provide relevant details to substantiate findings.
  • Performs administrative tasks related to audit activities, such as preparing meeting agendas, writing audit summary reports, and facilitating closing meetings.
  • Follow-up on internal and external audit-related corrective actions to ensure closure and effectiveness.
  • Performs analysis of internal audit data and identifies trends to determine effectiveness of the Quality Management System.

Quality System Specialist I

  • Able to manage multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously.
  • Must have some experience performing compliance audits.
  • Working knowledge of RCCA processes.
  • Some experience analyzing data.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • Able to adapt to changing conditions.
  • Able to travel up to 10% of the time domestically.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite of products.

Quality System Specialist II

  • Four years of experience in the Aerospace and Defense or manufacturing industry.
  • AS9100 Certified Lead Auditor (or relative quality certification).
  • Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement Tools.
  • Proficient performing RCCA.
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously.
  • Expert experience analyzing quality data.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • Able to adapt to changing conditions.
  • Able to travel up to 25% of the time domestically.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite of products.

Quality System Specialist III

  • Six years of experience in the Aerospace and Defense or manufacturing industry.
  • AS9100 Certified Lead Auditor (or relative quality certification) for minimum of 4 years.
  • Expert knowledge of Continuous Improvement Tools to apply and teach.
  • Expert knowledge of RCCA processes to apply and teach.
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously.
  • Expert experience analyzing quality data.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • Able to adapt to changing conditions.
  • Able to travel up to 25% of the time domestically.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite of products.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or related.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

The education and experience listed below apply to all levels of Quality System Specialists.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field. AS9100 Lead Auditor certification (or relative quality certification) and/or years of equivalent audit work experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Quality System Specialist I

  • Some experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry.
  • Familiar with the AS9100 Standard.

Quality System Specialist II

  • Familiarity with Lean principles.

Quality System Specialist III

  • Familiarity with Lean principles.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

WORK ENVIROMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Office and/or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones)
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 0-25% - May be required between KUAS locations.
