POSITION SUMMARY:

This office position is part of a team that responds to inquiries, requests and issues to the HR Service Center. Primarily, this position is responsible for health insurance cost containment, all employee wellness program development, execution and communications. This position also supervises a Benefits Administrator.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties include the following, while other duties may be assigned to meet business needs:

  • Serves as technical expert in health care cost containment and lead on all health care cost containment initiatives.
  • Analyzes health insurance claims payments, ensures proper employee v. employer responsibility for claims cost share. Audits claims payment processes.
  • Drives Wellness initiatives, which may affect health care cost containment. Responsible for the creation, promotion, distribution, and facilitation of wellness program initiatives / communications. The intent is to promote all employee engagement and wellness. Wellness is a broad term and includes financial wellness goals.
  • Compiles statistical summaries of participant data, event/seminar attendance and employee engagement to ensure proper detailed program evaluation.
  • Conducts assessments to determine interest in, or satisfaction with, wellness and fitness programs, events, or services. Provides ad hoc and standard reporting on program health and other outcomes. 
  • Recommends new program or partnership opportunities, such as with local gyms, banks, health and fitness vendors, or wellness portals / apps.
  • Organizes and oversees health screenings, such as flu or biometric screenings.
  • Assists the HR Manager in the development of budget, policies, and procedures relevant to the operation of the wellness program.
  • Acts as for a member of the HR Service Center and cross-trains with the Leave and Benefits Enrollment Coordinator to manage employee benefit and leave requests as needed.
  • Answers incoming calls from employees regarding various HR topics. Attempts to solve administrative issues and refers more complex inquires to the proper process owner.
  • Maintains effective business relationships with benefits and wellness carriers / brokers / vendors.

DIRECT REPORTS:

  • Benefits Administrator

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of human resources.
  • Strong logical reasoning, with a sense of curiosity.
  • Enthusiasm for designing and implementing employee wellness programs.
  • Strong computer (Microsoft Office) skills with advanced Excel skillset – including Macros, VLOOKUP, and Pivot Tables.
  • Effective organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
  • Willingness to complete some travel between locations to execute various wellness initiatives.
  • Health and fitness-related certifications a plus.
  • Benefits administration experience preferred.
  • Two to four years’ experience in wellness program administration preferred.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources/Business/related subject or equivalent work experience.
