Position Summary:

The front desk host must possess the ability to deliver a warm and welcoming introduction when a guest enters Kobe. Greets guests upon arrival, escorts them to a table and provides menus to them once seated. Manages special seating requests consistent with table availability. Relays seating/guest information to servers and server assistants persons. Oversees dining room activity to ensure the most efficient and effective flow of patrons.

** Listed Salary Range is our current average hourly pay rate, which includes Kobe base pay for Host ($15-$18 per hour) plus shared Service Charge.

Essential Functions include but are not limited to:

• Greets all guests with a smile upon their arrival, checks guests in and escorts them to a table, balancing the flow among the server’s stations
• Must be upbeat, outgoing and positive with excellent communication skills
• Table selection should correspond with proper rotation, guests seating preference and size of party
• Assist with seating requests when necessary and provide guests with clean menus
• Relays information to service staff, requests feedback from guests as to their experience and gives a final salutation upon exit from the restaurant
• Maintains a clean and organized station. Complete all side-work and ensure the cleanliness of menus, and keeps necessary stock of pens, pencils, menus and other departmental supplies
• Answers the telephone
• Periodically checks restrooms for cleanliness and proper stock of supplies
• Explain and offer the Kobe rewards card to each patron at check-in
• Continuously standing, walking, bending, reaching, carrying and twisting and use of hands and arms

Our story began in 1984 when Doi Tan Nguyen, along with his son Chau left Montreal, Canada. They came to Altamonte Springs and launched Kobé, Florida’s Premier Japanese Steakhouse. Nguyen had big ideas for his restaurant concept in the Orlando market. He wanted to deliver a unique dining experience that would offer an exciting and vibrant environment for guests to gather and celebrate over delicious food and drinks.
In 1996, with the passing of his father and joined by his sister and uncle, Chau Nguyen took over the company and remains the principal owner of the Florida native brand.
Over the years, Kobé has grown to become a big family business that includes his children, nieces and numerous dedicated employees that have been with the company through the decades.
