Purpose of Job

The purpose of this classification is to perform a variety of duties to support the golf course which may include golf carts, light maintenance, cleaning and landscaping and pro shop support.
Essential Functions

The Part-Time Golf Course General Assistant is responsible for the following essential functions:

Golf Cart Maintenance:

• Clean, distribute and place carts in and out of play daily, and inform management of any maintenance problems related to golf carts.
• Fuels and charges carts each night and as required.
• Cleans carts and storage area each night and provides balls for next day start up.
• Picks range and washes range balls.
• Cleans restrooms as required.
• Keeps carts clean and parks them in storage area.

Pro Shop Support:

• Sells Pro Shop merchandise.
• Operates tee time booking computer system, assigns tee times, and starts groups in orderly manner.
• Opens, closes and secures Pro Shop.
• Keeps shelves stocked and tidy.
• Advises merchandise ordering/equipment ordering.

Maintenance and Landscaping:

• Mows and maintains grass and fields using lawnmowers, tractors, weed-eaters, leaf blower and other equipment.
• Performs landscaping maintenance including fertilizing, trimming and mulching.
• Performs general custodial duties as necessary.
• Performs preventive maintenance and repair work on equipment.

Additional Job Functions

• Respond to and report immediately if called upon by local, regional or central office supervisors, as part of a coordinated emergency response by the Knox County Mayor’s Office
• Ensure regular, punctual attendance during scheduled work hours
• Perform other duties as required

Minimum Training & Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 years’ related experience
• Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered for employment into the position

• Basic understanding of computers, printers and other office equipment

Physical Requirements

• Occasional moderate effort or frequent periods of light physical activity (20-50lbs)

Occupational Hazards

• Exposure to various types of sprays, pesticides and other chemicals
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors, cold and hot weather conditions including precipitation
• Exposure to sunlight for extended periods of time
