Customer Service Specialist

Primary Duties

Acts as receptionist/office assistant, greets visitors, answers telephone; provides information, forwards calls or directs taxpayer to appropriate party if cannot provide further assistance. Assists the public with the completion of standardized records or documents. Types a variety of documents including correspondence, lists, labels, reports, requisitions, memoranda, reports, etc. Checks items for clerical accuracy and completeness. Computer Data entry and filing. Picks up and delivers mail, assists with large mailings.

Personal Property

Maintain all personal property records with the most up to date information available by:

  • Utilizing DMV’S website for information on taxpayers, processing weekly adds, moveouts and adding taxpayers per DMV list
  • Updating addresses from taxpayers and DMV, updating DMV with garage jurisdiction changes
  • Using various databases to search for new addresses for returned mail
  • Contacting taxpayers by phone, mail, or email to correct erroneous information on their personal property
  • Working with other localities to compare taxpayer information
  • Answering questions from taxpayers, other localities and co-workers regarding any personal property issues that arise
  • Utilizing DGIF online services for boat records and sending updates to DGIF (DWR) for taxpayers to correct their records
  • Processing Personal Property abatements as needed
  • Issue Personal Property supplement bills
  • Assist co-workers while they are working Personal
  • Property queries, reports, phone calls, etc.
  • Process high mileage for taxpayers who qualify
  • Work all queries to keep records up to date for personal property

Real Estate

Assist taxpayers with Real Estate questions and print or email property cards as needed.

Complete address changes.

***OTHER DUTIES:

Provide a Landfill/Convenience Center Decal or temporary pass as requested. Fill in as needed in other departments within the Commissioner of the Revenue office.
