Summary: The product manager manages the entire lifecycle for a portfolio of products within the Kinetics Equipment Solutions Group (KESG). This role works closely with sales, engineering, and other business functions to gather customer requirements and turn them into clear product development projects. The product manager also owns the profit and loss (P&L) performance of the portfolio and oversees all aspects of product pricing, positioning, and marketing.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Oversee product launches including internal and external stakeholder alignment
Work closely with R&D, engineering, and production resources as a “voice of the product” and help eliminate roadblocks that negatively impact product success
Create go-to-market strategies based on customer segmentation, competitive analysis and product positioning best practices
Develop product pricing, budgeting, and positioning strategies to create a good balance between market share and revenue recognition
Act as a partner with sales and service resources to increase product awareness and manage new opportunities
Prepare a product roadmap and defend project proposals as part of the new product introduction (NPI) process
Work with operations and engineering leadership to identify product and manufacturing improvements that can reduce costs and improve margins
Analyze the performance of the product portfolio and set priorities that align with business unit and corporate objectives
Develop product marketing collateral (data sheets, specs, etc) that can be used to inform customers and key partners
General Skills and Communication Skills:
Proven record of success in managing complex projects
Familiarity with product lifecycle management
Ability to create and communicate product and marketing strategies
A strong technical background and experience with technology fields such as the semiconductor industry
Ability to maintain relationships with internal and external customers
Ability to problem solve and make quick decisions based on company policies
Ability to ask questions when faced with unclear processes or issues
Excellent Attention to detail
Highly-effective communicator with clear and concise written communication skills
Computer Skills:
Basic to advanced proficiency with MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook
Experience with SAP/ERP preferred
Experience with PLM, PDM, or CRM systems preferred
Education/Experience:
MS/BS degree in Marketing, Engineering, Economics or equivalent, MBA preferred
2 years of experience in a product management or other customer-facing role
5 years of experience in the semiconductor industry or equivalent equipment-driven sector
Project Management experience preferred
Willing to travel up to 25% of the time
