Director of Residence Life

Kentucky Wesleyan College, a private, liberal arts college with a long-standing reputation for

quality and academic excellence, is seeking applications for a full-time Director of Residence

Life to join our community and manage student housing and campus security.

Major Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of student housing, including:
o Plan, implement, and evaluate various housing functions (e.g., housing schedule,

room selection, room changes, etc.) as well as residential programming.

o Coordinate the selection process for Resident Director and Resident Assistants

and conducting training programs for them.

o Oversee the safety and security in the residence halls.

o Collaborate with Facilities to effectively manage the residence halls.

o Collaborate with summer camps staying on campus regarding their housing

needs.

  • Manage meal plans for residential students and work with the external service providers
regarding meal plans (e.g., dining services contractor, ID card company).
  • Manage all aspects of campus security, including:
o Develop and maintain a training manual for security officers.

o Hold bi-monthly security staff meetings and work with the contracted security

provider to address any needs or issues.

o Manage identification cards and keys for the security staff.

  • Serve as a positive role model for and be accessible to students.
  • Serve as the Administrator on Call for the residence life staff.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, or related field.
  • At least two years of previous supervisory experience in Residence Life or Student

Affairs.

  • Knowledge of Student Affairs literature and the ability to use theory to guide practice.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to

relate to a variety of groups including students, employees, and the community.

  • Genuine interest in students and in developing programs to benefit them.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities without close supervision.
  • A high level of energy and a sense of humor.
  • Computer literate.
