The Kentucky Department of Parks has a job opening for a Human Resources Specialist III. This positionsupports the Human Resources Administration Branch with personnel and payroll processing for Kentucky StateParks.

We are looking for an individual that’s excited to learn, grow, and make a difference! The work environmentoffers a supportive and growth-oriented atmosphere.

This is the perfect opportunity for an applicant who isseeking a career in HR or who is interested in learning to function in the capacity of a HR Generalist.

This position works under the direct supervision of the HR Branch Manager. Our office setting is a highlycollaborative environment with a focus on teamwork.

At times this position may work closely with or beassigned to shadow a HR Administrator.

The main duties of this job include but are not limited to :

  • Administer personnel, payroll, and benefit support to employees and managers.
  • Process personnel actions and payroll through the Human Resources Information System (KHRIS).
  • Review and track personnel action requests and the Parks Housing Deduction program.
  • Draft HR-related correspondence as directed by the Appointing Authority.
  • Family and Medical Leave and Workers Compensation coordinator for the Department.
  • Assist with training field personnel on different HR topics.
  • Attend interview panels at various offices and Parks.
  • Provide administrative support to the HR management team.

Preferred skills and abilities :

  • Previous HRIS experience, preferably in SAP products or the state’s KHRIS system.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to remain adaptable, demonstrate empathy, patience, and active listening skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to keep up with multiple deadlines.
  • Interest in learning about the Executive Branch’s HR regulations and procedures.

Minimum Requirements EDUCATION : Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS : Two years of professional experience in personnel administration.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE : NONE

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION : Administrative, business, research, and / or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required college on a year for year basis. Prior military experience will only substitute if the individual received an honorable discharge, discharge under honorable conditions, or a general discharge.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.) : NONE Working Conditions Incumbents working in this job title perform duties in an office setting.
