Job Description
Position Title: Resort Kennel Attendant Classification: Hourly/Non-Exempt
Reports to: Resort Shift Supervisor Schedule: Full-time or Part-time; hours vary
Summary of Purpose: Ensures the overall health and well being of animals entrusted to the care of the Kentucky Humane Society Pet Resorts while providing excellence customer service.
Duties (Essential Functions):
Adhere to KHS and Resort Standard Operating Procedures
Complete morning / afternoon activities of all animals on activity lists
Evaluate dogs for socialized play
Complete A.M. / P.M. feeding of all pets per customer instructions
Assist with play groups and daycare
Answer the telephone in a timely and friendly manner as assigned
Complete daily cleaning and disinfecting of runs, walkways and rooms, public areas and offices
Complete daily cleaning of cat condos & litter boxes
Launder bedding, blankets, towels and rugs
Conduct check- in / check-out of customers, using resort computer software as assigned
Communicate any animal health or temperament concerns to the Supervisor on duty
Communicate with Manager or Supervisor on duty regarding unusual activities, significant problems or concerns
Bathe, dry and brush animals as assigned
Provide excellent customer service at all times
Ensure a safe work environment; following all safety guidelines
Other duties as assigned
Fern Creek Pet Resort Duties Only:
Assist with ASPCA transports onsite unload/load animals, feed, sanitize runs
Qualifications/Requirements:
General dog and cat knowledge preferred
Great interpersonal skills both in person and by phone with clients, staff and volunteers
Ability to work independently with little direct supervision
Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to process paperwork accurately and efficiently
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast paced environment
Basic computer knowledge
Punctual and dependable
Humane attitude towards animals
Ability to manage the emotional aspect of end of life services and humane euthanasia, and support staff in high-emotion circumstances
Accept, support, and represent KHS core values, programs, policies and procedures
Background Check required
Physical Demands/Working Environment:
Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, walking and standing on a regular basis while performing job functions
Frequently lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to and exceeding 100 pounds
Includes working with animals in a grooming/kennel setting (indoor/outdoor) with potential for exposure to allergens, zoonotic diseases, and cleaning chemicals
