Kent Intermediate School District is Hiring a Lead Teacher, Great Start to Readiness Program (2024-25 school year) Near Grand Rapids, MI

Job Title: Lead Teacher, Great Start Readiness Program (2024-25 school year)

Multiple positions available

Broad Statement of Responsibilities:

Teach children in a high-quality preschool program that complies with the requirements of the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) grant.

Essential Job Qualifications Required:

  1. A valid Michigan?teaching?certificate?with Early?Childhood Endorsement?(ZA) or Early Childhood general or special education (ZS) endorsement OR Bachelor’s degree in early childhood or child development with a specialization in preschool teaching, OR five (5) years experience as an associate teacher in a GSRP classroom. Those with significant coursework toward qualifications may be considered if the applicant is willing to sign a compliance plan stating they will continue to work toward proper credentials.
  2. Create and maintain a safe and positive learning environment focused on a sense of belonging within the classroom.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively and relate positively with students, co-teacher, parents, and school personnel.
  4. Good attendance and punctuality.
  5. Partner with families, working to engage them in their child’s school experience.
  6. Commitment to equity, social justice and inclusion in all practices and position responsibilities.
  7. Team player who is able to multitask and prioritize.
  8. Navigate and utilize Google Suite and willingness to learn how to navigate and utilize other technology platforms.
  9. Bilingual skills are highly desired.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Immediately after hire, with support from Kent ISD, the Teacher must acquire: 

  1. Knowledge of the Early Childhood Standards of Quality for Pre-Kindergarten (ECSQ-PK).
  2. Knowledge of GSRP requirements as outlined in the GSRP Implementation Manual.
  3. Knowledge of State of Michigan Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers.
  4. CPR and First Aid certification.
  5. Formal training in the selected approved developmental screener (ASQ-3 or Brigance), comprehensive curriculum (Connect4Learning, HighScope, Montessori and/or Reggio Emilia), and authentic child assessment (COR) of the assigned classroom. Formal training is defined as comprehensive training in full implementation of a tool, completed by a certified trainer of the tool, such as those who have attended training of trainers. 
  6. Knowledge of the Essential Instructional Practices in Early Literacy, Prekindergarten and Essential Instructional Practices in Early Mathematics, Pre-K to Grade 3.
  7. Knowledge of alignment documents between curricula and the ECSQ-PK. ?
