VACANCY NOTICE
 
Job Title: Associate Teacher, Great Start Readiness Program
Kent ISD GSRP
172 days per day, 35 hours per week
Multiple Positions Available – 2024-25 school year

Broad Statement of Responsibilities:
Teach children in a high-quality preschool program that complies with requirements of the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) grant.
Minimum Qualifications:

  1. An associate’s degree (AA) in early childhood education or child development or the equivalent
    1. OR A valid classroom CDA credential;
    2. OR Willingness to obtain CDA or associate’s degree in early childhood education or child development within three years.
      1. Those with significant coursework toward qualifications may be considered if the applicant is willing to sign a compliance plan stating they will continue to work toward proper credentials. 

Immediately after hire, with support from Kent ISD, the Teacher must acquire:

  1. Knowledge of the Early Childhood Standards of Quality for Pre-Kindergarten (ECSQ-PK).
  2. Knowledge of GSRP requirements as outlined in the GSRP Implementation Manual.
  3. Knowledge of State of Michigan Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers.
  4. CPR and First Aid certification.
  5. Formal training in the selected approved developmental screener (ASQ-3), comprehensive curriculum (Connect4Learning, HighScope, Montessori and/or Reggio Emilia), and authentic child assessment (COR) of the assigned classroom. Formal training is defined as comprehensive training in full implementation of a tool, completed by a certified trainer of the tool, such as those who have attended training of trainers.
  6. Knowledge of the Essential Instructional Practices in Early Literacy, Prekindergarten and Essential Instructional Practices in Early Mathematics, Pre-K to Grade 3.
  7. Knowledge of alignment documents between curricula and the ECSQ-PK.

Salary: Per Master Agreement, $17.10-$23.73 per hour
