Job Title: Career and Talent Development Support Specialist
215 days per year

Broad Statement of Responsibilities:
Provides coordination and support in the areas of Career Readiness, Workforce Development, and Stakeholder Services in areas related to Career and Talent Development. Performs clerical and administrative duties to assure efficient and effective operation of the office and a positive impact on the provision of educational services. Supports the programmatic needs of the department activities including marketing, registration, event coordination, and follow-up for events. Reports to the Director of College and Career Readiness.
 
Essential Job Qualifications Required:

  1. Three to five years of experience in education, event management, marketing, Career Development, or a similar field.
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with fellow staff and external customers of different cultural backgrounds, ages, and socioeconomic groups.
  3. Demonstrated leadership and resourcefulness in program development to meet the needs of stakeholders.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, social media, website management, and database management.
  5. Demonstrated abilities to represent the Kent Intermediate School District in a responsible and effective manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Supports the programmatic needs of the department activities including registration, event coordination, and follow-up for events:
    1. Registration, communication, and event follow-up via software platforms and email.
    2. Ordering of materials, room/facility logistics, and preparing handouts/agendas.
    3. SCECH application and processing.
    4. Data management, review, and analysis including database functions.
  2. Marketing support for department and activities:
    1. Coordination of design and development of materials with Communications Dept.
    2. Ordering, organization, and distribution of printed materials and marketing items.
    3. Create and distribute newsletters.
    4. Support Social Media presence for department.
  3. Maintains and updates the website on a regular basis:
    1. Update website program pages regularly. 
    2. Highlight emerging news.
    3. Assist in identifying community events to include in newsletters and events calendar.
    4. Upload recorded events to website and video platform(s).
  4. Provides secretarial support for the department staff including but not limited to correspondence, room bookings, processing PD requests, mileage requests, attendance, and supply ordering.
  5. Acts as key department contact person on department secretarial/in-service/meeting matters.
  6. Files and maintains records of the department, professional development, tuition reimbursement, personnel records and purchasing. Also assists the department supervisor(s) with staff attendance.
  7. Meets and confers with the Director of Career Readiness to prioritize daily and weekly tasks.
  8. Maintains and updates departmental processes for all staff.
  9. Performs other tasks as required.

Salary: 215 days per year, Non-union hourly salary schedule, Grade 4, $21.84 = Step 1 (commensurate with experience)

The final candidate for this position will be required (at their cost) to furnish Kent Intermediate School District with a current Michigan State Police and FBI criminal records LiveScan check prior to our recommendation to hire.
