General Nature of Work

Thepurpose of this classification is to monitor activities and provide customer serviceto the patrons of the Parks and Recreation Department which can include the BenRobertson Center and the Recreation Center.

JOBRESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this position.The omission of specific statements of theduties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar,related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may berequired and assigned.

  • Performscustomer service functions in person and by telephone; provides information orassistance regarding Center services, activities, forms, procedures, fees, orother issues; responds to routine questions and complaints; researches problemsand initiates problem resolution; refers complaints/problems to appropriatepersonnel.
  • Processesparticipant registrations; reviews registration forms foraccuracy/completeness; enters information into online database; collects andrecords fees; maintains related documentation.
  • Schedulesfacility rentals; receives and reviews facility rental requests and agreements;enters information into facility calendar; collects and records fees; maintainsrelated documentation.
  • Maintainsfacilities; prepares facilities according to daily schedule; cleans rooms andfacilities; moves, sets up, and tears down tables, chairs, etc.; performsroutine cleaning of facilities.
  • Opens/closesfacility; unlocks and locks doors; turns lights on/off; disarms/sets alarm;empties trash; sweeps floors, etc.
  • Ensurescompliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards,policies and procedures; ensures adherence to established safety procedures;monitors work environment and use of safety equipment to ensure safety ofemployees and other individuals; initiates any actions necessary to correctdeviations or violations.
  • Communicateswith supervisor, City employees, the public, or other individuals as needed tocoordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information,resolve problems, or give/receive advice/direction.
  • Preparesor completes various forms, reports, accident reports, rental check lists, orother documents.
  • Receivesvarious forms, reports, registration forms, weekly building/room schedule,facility rental agreements, policies, procedures, catalogs, manuals, rules orother documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains asappropriate.
  • Communicateswith supervisor, Town employees, volunteers, the general public, or otherindividuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work,exchange information, resolve problems, or give/receive advice/direction.
  • Operatesa personal computer, general office equipment, or other equipment as necessaryto complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing,spreadsheet, database, or other system software.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

Data Utilization: Requires the ability to compile, assemble, copy,record and/or transcribe data according to a prescribed schema or plan.Includes judging whether readily observable functional, structural orcompositional characteristics are similar to or divergent from prescribedstandards, procedures or routines.

Human Interaction: Requires the ability to exchange information for thepurpose of clarifying details within well-established policies, procedures andstandards.

Equipment, Machinery,Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions ofequipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essentialfunctions.

Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety ofreference data and information.

Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction,multiplication, and division.Mayinclude counting, recording of counts, and basic measuring.

Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to carry out detailed but routinewritten or oral instructions. Involves routine work according to clearlyprescribed standard practices, with some latitude for independent judgment.

Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment insituations characterized by repetitive or short cycle operations covered bywell established procedures or sequences.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High schooldiploma or GED is preferred; supplemented by some experience in customerservice or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training,and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilitiesfor this job. Must possess and maintain a Georgia driver’s license.

Physical Requirements: Tasks requirethe ability to exert moderate, though not constant physical effort, typicallyinvolving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching,crawling, and prolonged standing, and which may involve some lifting, carrying,pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20pounds).

Sensory Requirements: Tasks require the ability to perceive anddiscriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, and visual cues orsignals.Most tasks require the abilityto communicate orally.

Work Environment: Essential functions are regularlyperformed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
