Position Summary:

The Investments Team at Kemper is seeking an Investment Analyst to join the Structured Finance Team, with a focus on products such as CLOs, ABS, CMBS, and RMBS.

Position Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough analysis to inform buy, sell, and hold investment recommendations, delivering insights both verbally and in writing to the Assistant Portfolio Manager and Senior Portfolio Manager
• Under the guidance of the Assistant Portfolio Manager, cover specific sub-sectors of the Structured Finance market, such as CLOs, CMBS, ABS, and RMBS. This involves developing and maintaining written credit evaluations, relative value analysis, and other pertinent information based on qualitative and quantitative factors.
• Assist in monitoring existing portfolio holdings, crafting monthly and quarterly reports to summarize trends.
• Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as directed by the Assistant Portfolio Manager.
• Collaborate with other teams and departments including Corporates, Municipals, Alternatives, Risk, Accounting, and Compliance on valuations, cash flow modeling, surveillance, and various projects.

Position Qualifications:

• 0-2 years’ experience, preferably in CLOs, CMBS, RMBS or ABS from an insurance, banking, or rating agency perspective. Relevant coursework and internship experience will be considered.

• Bachelor’s Degree is required; preferably in Finance, Accounting, and/or Economics.
• Strong Proficiency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

• Experience with Intex, Aladdin, and Bloomberg.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems in a timely manner.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines under pressure.
• Intellectually curious with strong work ethic and ability to think outside of the box.
• The selected candidate will work a hybrid work schedule which will require weekly reporting to our Chicago location.

The range for this position is $70,100 to $122,400. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors. This job is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and Kemper benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401k, etc.)
