The Asset Recovery Specialist works predominantly with Kapitus Deputy General Counsel, the VP of Risk Management, the Kapitus Collection’s Department, and outside counsel retained for judgment enforcement proceedings throughout the country.

The Asset Recovery Specialist assists in the management and maintenance of the relationship between Kapitus and outside attorneys in every state.

In addition, the Asset Recovery Specialist provides support, and works with, a multitude of Kapitus business areas and regularly communicates with, among others, merchants, agents, financial institutions, and escrow agents.

What you will do :

• Locating and recovering assets of businesses and business owners that have outstanding obligations to Kapitus
• Conducting asset and financial reviews and analyses to aid in collection and assist in the determination of appropriate settlement and payment plans as well as proper treatment in bankruptcy cases
• Recommending the domestication, recording and enforcement of outstanding judgments
• Negotiating settlement plans in accordance with the Kapitus policies and procedures and exercising proper business judgment when recommending settlements outside such policies and procedures
• Setting up and monitoring settlement agreements
• Maintaining and updating the systems of record for accounts documenting activity
• Addressing Kapitus legal department and outside attorneys’ requests for information, analysis, and documents
• Communicating with business owners and responding to business owners’ inquiries via telephone and email
• Monitoring and following up on delinquent accounts and settlements
• Drafting documents, i.e., subpoenas for enforcing judgements
• Training new hires and existing Kapitus personnel as needed
• Maintaining form files for domestication and judgment enforcement in every state
• Conducting ad-hoc tasks and duties as required by management.

What We’re Looking For :

• Bachelor’s degree preferably in finance, accounting, or business
• At least five years’ experience in the legal collections, commercial collections, and special assets
• Knowledge of consumer and commercial collections, judgment enforcement, bankruptcy, and foreclosure legal proceedings
• Knowledge of real and personal property recovery procedures
• Licensing, certifications, and courses pertaining to business financial analysis, asset recovery, enforcement of judgments, fraud analysis, and forensic accounting are strongly preferred
• Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and ability to work on multiple projects
• Strong negotiation skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft, Excel, Clear or other skip tracing tools, and pipeline management
• Ability to read and interpret credit reports
• Experience reviewing business financials
• Effective at communicating clearly in verbal and written form
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and complete them on time
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to shift attention quickly and accurately from one matter to another
• Experience with administrative responsibilities
• Collaborates well with others in a team environment
• Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and sense of accountability
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish relevant facts, and draw valid conclusions

• Competitive Base Salary of $47,800 - $76,700
