A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HEALTHY FAMILIES HOME VISITING FAMILY SUPPORT SPECIALIST

As a support coordinator, your vital family services consist of visiting families in their homes to provide support in establishing positive home environments, promoting strong attachments through the parent-child relationships, and encouraging the well-being of children and families. Strong communication enables valuable guidance in the development of the Family Goal Plan where families are encouraged to achieve identified goals. Through this significant encouragement, you utilize reflective strategies with interpersonal skills that normalize, explore and wonder, and accentuate the positive to help strengthen parent-child relationships. Efficient organizational skills assist in adequately documenting observations of children and families through weekly notes of your home visits while implementing a research-based curriculum. With your excellent collaborative abilities, you meet weekly with your supervisor to reflect and review family interventions and documentation, assist with outreach through community fairs, and attend regular team and community meetings where team support is occasionally needed. Every day you feel critically important in positively growing Kansas families with your extensive support.

HEALTHY FAMILIES HOME VISITING FAMILY SUPPORT SPECIALIST QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with or providing services to children and families
  • Interpersonal qualities

HEALTHY FAMILIES HOME VISITING FAMILY SUPPORT SPECIALIST WORK SCHEDULE

Typically, our full-time support coordinator offers family services Monday through Friday during business hours with some occasional evenings and weekends as needed. This schedule supplies a satisfying work-life balance with active traveling for a continuous breath of fresh air.
