Kaney is Hiring a Mechanical Engineer Detailer Near Rockford, IL

Description

The Mechanical Engineer Detailer is responsible for creating the detail drawings of hardware to support the development and sustainment of products for aerospace, medical and industrial applications.

Requirements

Major Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with design engineers to create detailed drawings and specifications for mechanical components or systems. This involves translating conceptual designs into detailed, precise plans.
  • Use computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create 2D and 3D models of mechanical parts or systems. Ensure accuracy and adherence to industry standards.
  • Generate detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation. Provide clear and concise instructions for manufacturing teams.
  • Work with engineers to select appropriate materials and components based on design specifications, considering factors such as strength, durability, and cost.
  • Perform tolerance analysis to ensure that components fit together properly and meet design requirements. Address any potential issues related to manufacturing tolerances.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, manufacturing teams, and project managers, to ensure seamless communication and integration of design requirements.
  • Participate in quality control process to verify that manufactured components meet design specifications and industry standards.
  • Assist in cost analysis related to material and manufacturing processes. Optimize designs for cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality and performance.
  • Stay informed about industry regulations and standards. Ensure that designs comply with relevant codes, regulations, and standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or 1-2 years equivalent work experience.

Minimum Competencies:

  • Proficiency in using CAD software (e.g. Solidworks). 
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and GD&T.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and solve design problems, especially related to tolerances, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Precision and attention to detail are critical to producing accurate and error-free design documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree 
  • Familiar with AS91000 practices
  • Experience in a Manufacturing or Manufacturing Engineering environment

Preferred Competencies:

  • Familiar with configuration management

Operational Details / Work Environment

  • Work activities may be performed at Company facilities or at the facilities of the company’s customers.
  • Work will be performed both in an office environment and in a laboratory environment.
  • Travel to customer site may be required.
  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) may be required in some workspaces.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
