PROPERTY ACCOUNTANT
Are you meticulous and results-driven with experience in Real Estate? KA Communities is currently looking for a skilled Property Accountant to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. As an integral member, you will assume a key role in providing full cycle accounting and support for a portfolio of properties owned and managed by KA Communities. Responsibilities include performing closing processes, bank reconciliations, entering accruals & reclasses, and monthly financial reporting. Your efforts will be vital in supporting the property's goal of achieving the highest Net Operating Income possible. Expertise with the RealPage property management platform and accounting experience within a property management organization are essential.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Performs general ledger accounting activities for approximately 6-10 properties utilizing RealPage property management software
  • Completes accounts payable activities and payments to ensure accuracy
  • Prepares bi-monthly payroll administration and funding
  • Prepares and enters expense reports
  • makes journal entries and ensures that the general ledger activity is accurate and complete.
  • Maintains subsidiary schedules to track Prepaid Insurance and Accrued Real Estate taxes
  • Collaborates with property managers and regional manager to ensure timely and accurate pre-close activities are recorded
  • Prepares monthly bank reconciliations for property checking accounts
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information for month-end and year-end close including the preparation of supporting schedules and work papers.
  • Prepares monthly property financial reporting packages
  • On-board new properties to ensure correct set-up, make necessary adjustments
  • Works with external auditors and tax preparers to provide supporting documentation of financial activity
  • Applies financial policies and procedures of the company
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance; or equivalent experience, is required
  • 3 years of experience as an accountant in the multifamily industry is preferred.
  • Proficiency in RealPage property management accounting software is required.

  • Possesses a high level of detail with strong accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
