Property Accountant

 

SUMMARY

The Property Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day financials of the property.

CLASSIFICATION

The position is a full-time, regular, non-exempt position.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

The position reports directly to the Senior Accounting Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Completes journal entries for accruals and reclasses as directed by Property Managers.
  • Works directly with onsite team to ensure accurate financials.
  • Prepares monthly financials and all supporting schedules.
  • Completes bank reconciliations and researches cash items.
  • Responsible for the cash management for property, including payments for mortgage, tax, and partner distributions.
  • Manages the monthly replacement reserve and capex funding.
  • Tracks and reports capital project budget.
  • Completes general accounting tasks for multifamily assets.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred; two or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Previous experience and knowledge of GAAP.
  • Advanced computer skills with accounting software, industry specific technology including Yardi, and using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and various other computer applications.
