Pasternack Properties is Hiring a Property Accountant Near Phoenix, AZ

Pasternack Properties, that owns and manages commercial real estate properties in the valley, is looking for a Property Accountant. Founded in 1978 by Irwin Pasternack, a local architect and developer in order to bring quality commercial property management to the Phoenix metropolitan area. We are currently managing over 30 retail, office, and industrial properties totaling over 2 million square feet. Our company is located at Maryland Ave and 7th Street in Phoenix. The position is full-time, onsite, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.

Under the direction of Accounting Manager, the Property Accountant is responsible for day-to-day accounting functions required to produce monthly financial statement. Accuracy and timeliness in the completion of the workload is required in this position. Strong communication skills, good work ethic, analytical thinking, a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and at least 2 years of experience are required and experience in the real estate field is preferred.

Requirement

  • Perform bookkeeping including billing/collecting rents. Record tenant rent payments, commission payments, and other receivables; and conduct bank deposits as needed. Make tenant collection phone calls if needed.
  • Prepare and distribute tenant rent statements and administer collection of account receivables.
  • Verify invoices by reviewing for correct vendor address, general ledger code, dollar amount, purchase order, and authorized approval. Input invoices into accounting system. Set up and update vendor files in computer.
  • Prepare and file monthly Transaction Privilege Tax for each property.
  • Preparing monthly AR and AP reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with preparation of monthly variance report, aged delinquency report, rent rolls, and other financial reports.
  • Prepare accurate tenant bill-backs and internal re-bills in a timely manner.
  • Maintain positive professional relationships with tenants, vendors, brokers, bankers, insurance agents, accountants, and partners. Answer and direct incoming calls from tenants, vendors and service contractors.
  • Set up and maintain tenant lease files, contractor files, and accounting files. Scanning documents, and maintaining organized files both on the computer and in hard copy.
  • Compile and analyze financial information in preparation for entry into various financial statements and accounting reports, and make appropriate journal entries for recording in the general ledger by checking calculations, reviewing basis for figures, and balancing and reconciling figures.
  • Performs bank reconciliations and wire transfers for deposit, makes mortgage payments and distributions, and ensures accuracy.
  • Communicate with property managers to assist in completing pre-close and close activities, answer questions, provide support, and ensure timely completion of accounting processes for on-time client and Company reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting
  • Have at least three years working experiences in the real estate industry.
  • Have experience in Yardi.
  • Strong literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, QuickBooks
  • Knowledge about commercial leases, other legal documents
  • Working knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
